“OK but not great”

This Residence Inn is OK, but not great. I have stayed at many Residence Inn's along the Eastern coast and this one needs improved maintenance I requested a change because the room smelled like smoke, in which management was very accommodating. The rooms are changed with clean sheets, glasses, etc but there is a feeling that it is not really clean. The tub looked like it was just rinsed out and not cleaned with a cleanser, that is what I mean. When I was in bed, I dropped something and saw how dusty the floor, lamp and phone were. Marriott is a great brand, but this particular hotel needs improved management.

“The pool was closed”

Just returned from our first night away with twin two-year-olds., we chose the residence inn because it has suites. We had our own room, and the twns slept in pack n plays in the living room. The bathroom was off our room (a big plus so we wouldn't wake them), and there was also a small kitchen with all the appliances you could use.

Positives:
The setup/suite style was great
Very nice looking, kept up well in all areas
Right next to mystic aquarium and village, 5 minutes from seaport
We were given 2 fans and toothbrushes at our request with no problem.
Lots of exits

Negatives:
The pool and hottub were closed for unexplained reasons. I purposely chose a hotel with an indoor pool because of the kids. However, you were allowed to use the outdoor pool at the comfort inn literally a few steps a way

The free breakfast was very plentiful, including eggs, toasts, waffles, and cereals - but it didnt taste good. The pancakes were crispy.

The Ac was just horrible. I wanted it to blow constantly to give the kids some white noise, but instead it came on and off every 5 minutes and ended with a big PSHHHH that we heard in our bedroom. It definitely woke me often. There was a fan setting, but it didn't just stay on. There is a motion sensor in the room that will shut the fan off if no one moves (like when sleeping).

There was a big tear in the sofa cushion, some cobwebs/dust on the ceiling, and the sheets were very rough.

I would still stay here again though because the suite option can't be beat.

“Ok stay”

My husband and I stayed at the Residence Inn for one night for a little get away. The location is great, right off the highway, close to shopping/restaurants and not a far drive from the Casino. We happened to pick a very busy time to go as it was the beginning of school vacation week and we heard the pitter patter of little feet running up and down the halls. The room was comfortable and big, our only problem was the smell of cigarettes in the bathroom. It wasn't a smell like someone had just been in there smoking but more like someone had stayed there a month and constantly smoked in the small bathroom(maybe figuring the fan would help, it didn't). At first we phoned the front desk just to let them know and we hoped it would go away. Unfortunately it never did.
While a decent stay for us I'd recommend this hotel more for familes.

We were going to Foxwoods Casino with a bunch of friends & decided to get the 2 Bedroom here at this hotel. I have been here before, so I knew what to expect. I like to use these hotels to add to my frequent flier account on American Airlines.

We checked in with no problem. You have to sign a form stating you are not throwing any parties in your room for New Year's or you get kicked out by security. Some people were tossed out later that night by security. They are strict on their rules and your money is not refunded.

I was given the choice of any of the 3 floors. I chose the ground floor and we got room 149 which was right next to the door to go out and into the parking lot. Perfect choice.

The room was fine. You walk in and immediately on the right is the kitchen. Ahead of you is the living room with a fire place (gas type). On either side of the living room are the bedrooms with the full baths.

Sparkling clean, no dust, dirt, etc. We dropped out stuff off & left. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but there's plenty of them within sevral hundred yards. Mystic is very small, there's several high quality hotels within hundreds of yards from you. Behind us right on the same property was Comfort Inn and across the street was Best Western and Days Inn. Again, higher standards apply with these hotels. This is Connecticut after all!

Well, we had dinner across the street at the Best Western & headed off to Foxwoods. We spent the New Year's up there & left about an hour after the ball dropped. (It wasn't as crowded there as it use to be for New Year's).

The next morning, they had free continental breakfast. They gave me my gas card which comes with the room deal of $10. So I got to put $10 of gas in my car for the drive home.

All in all, its still a great place, well upkept and no signs of wear & tear. I highly recommend this place to everyone.
