We took the ferry from Port Jeffries to Conneticut and ended up in Mystic. We negotiated a very good price with the Hotel and ended up staying got two evenings. Our room was absolutely lovely, it overlooked the sea in the distance and had a jacuzzi bath, plus an additional bath and shower and the opportunity to have a real fire in the room if needed. The toiletries provided were nice, the coffee was weak but that may have been my adding too much water. The bed was really comfortable, spotlessly clean and there were plenty of towels provided. We could park outside the room and it was peaceful.
Breakfast was included and this was good. Plenty of choice, the eggs were a little cold at times but they would make you fresh if you asked. Lovely sausages and muffins and nice juice. Service was good and friendly and unobtusive.
The grounds were beautiful and there was a pool. It was too cold when we were there but it was a nice option. We never ate there in the evening, the pizza place at the bottom of the hill was cheap and served good food.
We were more than happy with the Inn at Mystic. Go and judge for yourself would be my advice. Give it a chance.

I called on a Friday to book for that same Friday and Saturday night.. I was able to get a room for myself and for my dog which I thought was very lucky. However, the woman on the phone said it would be $15 per night for my dog. The website says it's $10 per night. Also, my room was $190 per night. Since this was my first time to Mystic, I just figured it was an average price for rooms there. When I got there, the room smelled moldy all weekend and the carpet was nasty and worn and dirty. Also, there were bugs in the room that I couldn't get rid of. The housekeeping staff didn't seem to do a very good job cleaning as the bathroom was dirty as well. The food in the restaurant was average--the service was helpful. Since then, I have checked other hotel and B&B rates in the area which are much cheaper and appear to be much cleaner. I doubt I will stay at the Inn again.

Stayed at "The Inn at Mystic" this past Sunday night.
I would not recommend this place, unless you clearly and specifically ask for a room in the Inn itself.
I asked for a room, believing that I would be given a room in the Inn (I did not know that there was "the Inn" and "the motel", and was never told this on booking).
Instead, I was given a motel room that would be substandard for almost any motel chain that I have ever stayed in. When I put the water on to adjust the shower temp, the tub did not drain. I called the front desk and the innkeeper came with a plunger, and told me that "this is as good as it gets". She did not even offer to have the tub cleaned again after plunging. It still did not drain after that but I was offered another "motel room" to take a shower in. The carpet was dirty, and the coffeemaker was right next to the sink, and had toothpaste spots on it.
When I complained, the innkeeper was extremely rude, and accused me of lying on various issues, including my age, and hung up on me, and later on my husband.

I wanted to treat my friend to a special time at an inn where I had stayed years ago and really thought was excellent. Wow! Things have definitely changed. Avoid this Inn at all Costs!!
As an amenity, the inn has canoes that guests may use in the river that runs by the property. Guests are required to leave their drivers license at the front desk and return paddles and lifejackets following their trip down the river. A very nice maintenance man helped us to carry the equipment back up to the front desk. The two women at the front desk starting arguing about whether Mike should have helped us. At one point one of the women said, "I don't think Mike should have helped them, the guests should do some of the work." Needless to say we were shocked at her comment.
Also, we were out of clean towels, so I went again to the front desk (big mistake) and asked for some. After disappearing for about 10 minutes, the woman came back to tell me that all the towels in the inn were being washed and said, "Can't you just use the old towels in your room?" Again, we were appalled at her attitude. I later phoned the front desk to ask for shower gel and 2 facecloths. I was given one tiny gel and 1 facecloth. This is from an inn that charges upwards of $200 per room!!
The inn also boasts that it provides a free breakfast buffet for guests. The food was horrible and mostly inedible. The milk curdled our tea and was sour, the cut-up fruit was brown and well past its prime and the juices were all at room temperature with the cranberry juice being fermented.
I would rather pay for breakfast than have this old/spoiled food for "free".
The room, while clean, was definitely not worth the price and needed major upgrades.
We will never return to this Inn and I while I wrote a note to the owner expressing my dissatisfaction the only reply I received was, "I apologize." Unacceptable in my opinion.
Please stay anywhere else even if it means camping on the beach somewhere. This is an inn that does not care about customer service and has given up!

I think the family of ants living in our hotel room enjoyed our stay more than we did.
Based on the advertising on the hotel website, I was looking forward to our stay at the Inn at Mystic. Our first room was dark, covered with dirty carpet, and the jacuzzi was basically in a closet. The jacuzzi was covered with the same dirty carpet and surrounded by mirrors. Rather than romantic and cozy, the jacuzzi area reminded me of something you might find at a motel that rents rooms by the hour. The room smelled like a burning fireplace, which made me wonder about the air circulation since it was now July. After our first 5 minutes in the room, the ants began emerging from the heating vent near the bed. The receptionist apologized and switched our room to one with a "water view."
From our second room, we were able to see some water beyond the parking lot. Our second room was not much better, same dirty carpet, moldy tile in the bathroom, and horrible moldy smell!! Our family complained of similar problems in their rooms and our nephew was having asthma attacks (which he hardly ever has) from the dirty carpet and poor air circulation.
We stayed one night and unfortunately had dinner at the horrible restaurant. Luckily we found rooms at the nearby Hilton for the rest of our stay.
