“Delicious dinner and great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

This great restaurant was a lovely surprise. Really good Mexican food at a reasonable price, and they were willing to make some small substitutions we asked for because of our diets. The only drawback was it was kind of hard to find and the parking is across and down the street!

“Eh... Neat area upstairs, but not in love with the food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012 via mobile

If you are looking for sub par (in my opinion) Mexican food.... Then this is the place for you! There's nothing wrong with it, but it's nothing to write home about!! Good margaritas!!

“The only thing Mexican is the decor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

I'm sorry--having grown up in AZ close to the Mexican border, I have high standards.
This isn't Mexican food--it's like making Ortega Mexican at home.
Just sayin...

“New menu but service wasn't great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012

The restaurant is located in downtown Mystic. Parking is a nightmare. Your best option is to park in the paid lot across from the restaurant. The lot has a new ticketing system so you can no longer get a voucher from local establishments. The building is old and the gardens are very pretty. They have an outdoor gallery that displays different items from time to time.

The restaurant itself is located on the 2nd floor of the building with a small balcony for outdoor seasonal seating. The bar is on the 3rd floor which is amusing when you realize there is no elevator. It can be entertaining to watch those who have had to much to drink try to navigate 3 flights of stairs.

The menu has been recently redone and many of my favorite dishes are now gone. In addition to that the portion sizes have gotten smaller but the prices are still the same. Chimigana's used to be 8 inches long, now they are barely 4 and only come with chicken filling. The rice was ok but the refried beans were cold.

I went with my husband and children. The kids ordered virgin pina coladas which came out pink. The waiter claimed they were Strawberry Pina Coladas. I'm not surprised he got the wrong drinks, he didn't know what Midori was either. He offered to bring them the right drink but never got around to it. The virgin drinks now come in kid size cups rather than the regular size ones, but you still pay regular size prices for them. The kids ended up asking for water when came to clear the plates. My youngest ordered from the kids menu and his meal came with ice cream. The waiter offered to put anything he wanted on it.

We did not order an appetizer, instead we ate the free chips and salsa. It took quite a while for the entrees to arrive. Service was really slow. The waiter had to be called over to check on us.

“Very Good American Mexican Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2012

It's not real mexican cuisine, but for being American Mexican food it's very good. The service was good, it's clean and resonably priced.
