“Great Low Key B&B with location”

Clean, quality, quiet B&B that is walking distance to Mystic Seaport and downtown Mystic. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of nice touches such as cordials for the guests and a nice package for the road.

We stayed for one night recently. We arrived around 3 pm Saturday. The innkeeper was not around, had left a note that she was running errands and left our key on a slip of paper with our room assignment. We stayed in the Blue room, right at the top of the stairs. Certainly not a large room but manageable for our one night there. What I did find strange was that the sink was not in the bathroom, but on a platform in the room about 3 feet from the bed. The bathroom was spacious, even had a bidet. They should have done without the bidet and put the sink in there. The towels were not soft and fluffy at all, they were more like motel towels even though they were Ralph Lauren brand. There was one small bar of soap in the shower and a small tube of conditioning shampoo. No other amenities were provided. The room was very clean and the bed was pretty comfortable, even had some feather pillows which is always a plus for me!
We did not see the owner for the rest of the day or the evening. We finally met her at breakfast the next morning. Breakfast was very good, everything made from scratch and very tasty. She did send us off with bags filled with organic apples, homemade cookies, water bottles and sparkling wine. A very nice touch!! We try to stay in B&B's when we travel, we like to interact with the owners and learn more about where we're visiting. This was lacking here but since it was just a night we didn't care all that much.
I felt that it was pricey for what it was, I have stayed at much more luxurious B&B's for roughly the same amount. It was fine for the one night that we were there but I would probably not return.

Room Tip: There are 3 rooms upstairs, the Blue room right at the top of the stairs, the pink room and the yell...

The owner could not have been more hospitable, warm and understanding. We arrived to the eating area, filled with a freshly baked cobbler, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolates (it was Valentine's Day), homemade cookies and popcorn. Our room was tidy, cozy and comfortable, had a TV and private bathroom/shower inside of the room. We had a long list of breakfast foods to choose from for the next morning, from waffles to omelets and organic strawberries with yogurt and granola etc.

Lucky for us, the Inn was just a couple of blocks from the center of town, which was great since there was a snow storm that weekend and we had to cancel our dinner reservations b/c driving was too dangerous. So we walked right in to a fantastic oyster restaurant without reservations and had a delicious meal w/ cocktails, and simply walked back! Easy as that!

The next morning, breakfast was delicious and since the snow storm was still going and we didn't have a proper car to get out, she offered us to stay an extra night if we needed to at no charge. I mean whoa! So incredibly sweet and thoughtful. We ended up being able to get out and drive home, each with a goody bag (snacks/water/cookies) to help us get through the trip. She was amazing and we recommend this place to anyone!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Mermaid Inn over the Columbus Day long weekend and we had a wonderful experience. The B&B is even more charming than it appears in pictures, and you'll find it's within convenient walking distance of Mystic Seaport and a number of good restaurants (we really liked Bravo Bravo and the pub at the Captain Daniel Packer Inne).

We chose the Mermaid Room on the first floor, which worked out perfectly for us. The noise from folks eating breakfast in the dining room outside might be an issue if you're a light or late sleeper, but it didn't bother us in the slightest—and it was certainly well worth the convenience of having snacks and coffee waiting just outside our door.

Breakfast was delicious and generous (featuring what was probably the best blueberry waffle I've ever had), to say nothing of the fresh-baked cookies and other treats that were available throughout the day.

Josephine was a very gracious, totally nonintrusive hostess—she presented us with goodie bags for the drive home and was even kind enough to email me the recipe for her ridiculously good cookies. We'll definitely be back!

From the initial greeting to our departure, my husband I were made to feel special. This Inn was the icing on the cake. We were greeted by the owners daughter who was running the Inn for a few days. She made us feel so welcome and was very informative about events happening in the Mystic area and surrounding towns. Our room was very comfortable with crisp sheets and fresh flowers in a vase. In the morning we sat down to an incredible breakfast of omelets and Belgian waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc. We went about our day and upon our return in the early evening, we were again greeted warmly and relaxed with popcorn (which is made every night), and a nightcap in our room. When we checked out, we were given a goodie bag with freshly baked cookies. I think it was all the special touches that made our stay so INCREDIBLE. We will definitely make another weekend escape to the Mermaid Inn!!

The Mermaid Inn at Mystic is a wonderful B&B. Charming house and hostess who has renovated this property to very high standards. Josephine is the perfect host, who cooks lovely breakfasts and leaves out cakes/cookies/pies for you to help yourself. Her parting gift of a goodie bag was greatly appreciated and I would recommend that any to stay there.

Room Tip: I believe that there are only 4 guest rooms and all the guests during my stay were enamoured with th...

This was the last stop of our two week vacation to New England. This B&B was very comfortable and we felt right at home from the beginning of our one night stay (wished it was more). Josephine provided wonderful breakfasts and afternoon cookies. She even provided a parting goodie bag which proved very handy when we got slowed in NYC rush hour traffic. Gave great tips for restaurants and a spot to find sea glass on the beach. Her place is decorated with mermaids (I counted at least 37). In our short visit, it felt like we had known our hostess for years. Certainly would go back to this well located inn.
