We went here as part of a package offered by our hotel. We started with cocktails, a pair of martinis from a substantial menu. They were tasty enough, but since we're not much for cocktails in the first place, I am not including them in the rating.
Our starters, the house bread and a carpaccio, were simple but very well-executed. Our entrees were every bit as good, and very generously portioned. I had a beautiful lamb shank that was offered as a special. It was perfectly cooked and very tender. My girlfriend who doesn't even like lamb kept nibbling from my plate, as I did from her's, a stuffed veal chop.
Desserts were probably ill-advised, since we had overeaten already, but they were good. Normally "molten chocolate"-anything is a better concept for a dessert than it actually is in practice, but this one actually came pretty close to what I think it should have tasted like.
Yes, it is noisy, and the tables are very close together, but that's not enough for me to take off a point in the rating. The food was phenomenal, and before our gift certificate, the total for drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts and coffees was just over $100, which is a great deal. I would definitely return here.
(Oh, and it's in a great neighborhood too, so go ahead and overeat, you can walk some of it off afterwards.)
