“Romantic Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

We visited this restaurant on Route 27 in Mystic, CN. What a fantastic choice we made. We were in a relaxing room decorated with lit candles all around the room. We were seated beside the working fireplace. We were entertained by music from the DJ playing in the Tavern next door. We noted that they were famous for their chowder, and our meal choices which were equally delicious. We ended our romantic meal with coffee and a very rich chocolate torte. Looking forward to revisiting this restaurant during the warmer weather, as I believe there is also seating outside overlooking the water.

“A wonderful Saturday date night!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

My husband and I returned to Latitude 41 on Saturday night and had another wonderful meal!!. Even though the restaurant was packed we got in almost immediately. Our waitress was very attentive and very helpful, and made some excellent recommendations! Halfway through our meal the manager, Kerry, stopped over to check on us to make sure we were happy with our experience. She was so friendly and wonderful to talk to. Once again Latitude 41 goes above and beyond with their warm and inviting atmosphere and service, and the food is spectacular. My husband and I have already made plans to go back for more date nights!

“Good food .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

We had dinner in the main dining room recently due to a large party being in the smaller dining room. Although the food was good (except for the caesar salad which was loaded with dressing when I asked for light dressing), the large dining room was, empty, a tiny bit of a fire in the gas fireplace, and not warm, welcoming or cozy in any way. It really needs some work.

The smaller dining room is lovely and the tavern is lively. The lobby fireplace, thank heavens was lit and wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and we will return but not to the large dining room It is no surprise that it is often empty. Even if it were full it would be incredibly noisy as it is just too large.

“Staff nice but need training”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Parking across the street for this location is usually not a problem. Plenty of spaces and the lot was clear for the most part, of ice and snow. The crosswalk lights were not working and the traffic lights were blinking. Crossing the street was interesting and we literally were almost hit. (not the restaurants fault).

We had 6pm reservations (which were not needed this particularly cold Saturday night). We went to the hostess stand and there was no one there. A few servers and busboys walked by and there were a small group of people talking in the room behind the hostess stand. They dispersed a few minutes later and another few minutes later one of those women came over to seat us. (not a great first impression since she had her back to her post).

A nice busgirl gave us water and said our waitress would be with us in a minute. 15 minutes later (seriously) she came over. She was very nice and after that was very attentive. She had training at some point. We ordered our drinks and dinner at the same time since we had plenty of time to review the menu. She came back with our drinks. Served the ladies first and was proper. The busboy came back with bread, plates and knives and as nice as can be but little if any training. Was confused where to put the plates and knives and clearly nervous.

Another server brought our soups. They did not know who got what and there were 3 chowders and one bisque. When our waitress came back to remove the bowls she should have used a tray, but ok. not a big deal... Ok, more 'training' issues. The food was delivered timely and was hot. This was served by our main waitress. She was great. The food was tasty, good portions and cooked and seasoned perfectly. I give the food 5 Stars. We each had dessert and coffee all served by our original waitress. It was, like the dinner, perfect.

Overall we all enjoyed our meals. We all had the same complaint. If we are paying for 5 star food, and we had no problem with the prices being what they were (and knew it in advance), we expect 5 star service. Not over the top at our table every 5 seconds but lift my glass off the table before you refill my water glass. Don't make us wonder who may be coming to the podium to seat us. Don't let me keep looking around the room looking for a waitress after being seated for 15 minutes. We were one of 2 tables in that room when we arrived. They did have a few tables in another room but they had several staff wandering so they were, by no stretch, busy.
