Just got dinner at S&P Oyster and it was superb! Highly recommend it to anyone staying in or passing through Mystic. My family and I tried several restaurants in Mystic and this is one of only two that I would recommend (Azu being the other). Service is great and the food is an eclectic menu of seafood, pastas, and meat/poultry. The only downside of the place is that we ended up waiting 90 minutes for a table on Saturday night, but it's no surprise why it's worth the wait.

Really I can't believe the great reviews here. If you're looking for good food, you'll be horrified.
Long wait to sit and once you've ordered you'll have another really long wait so do take the bread when offered.
I made the mistake of ordering an Oyster grinder with peppers and gorgonzola cheese. What can I say-I thought maybe the chef knew something I didn't. He didn't. Soggy and just awful. Another in our party ordered a warm lobster roll which was supposed to be just mixed with a little butter. It tasted like it was dosed in butter than given time to congeal and furthermore the lobster tasted very old.
The disasters went on from there but basically we felt they just tried to do too much to jazz up the food and the result terribly backfires.

We loved every other restaurant we tried in the Mystic vicinity. this one you could keep.

We used the call ahead seating, and only had a 5 minute wait on a sunny summer Saturday evening. The service was prompt and helpful. The food was outstanding, as was the view. I would highly recommend. The dining experience was well worth the price.

This was a terrific restaurant in a great location. Could have used a bigger parking lot ! Huge crowd, but with call ahead priorty seating, we were seated within minutes. We decided to dine out on the patio and were happy we did. The scenery was beautiful. The food was fantastic - oysters were fresh and delicious. I had salmon for dinner and my husband had the seafood platter and since he does not like scallops, asked if he could have some extra shrimp instead - the request was happily granted. I would recommend this restaurant for any seafood lover !
