Based on the Trip Advisor reviews, I was very excited to enjoy a great dinner here, but found many things irksome right from the get-go. On the plus side, the atmosphere is cozy (fireplaces, creaky floors, stone walls) and the pub is adorable. The service was also very friendly and efficient and the food was okay, though not as good as I had hoped. But, if you attend during the cold months be prepared to drive for a while before finding a place to park or be prepared for a long, cold walk! It's just a terrible parking situation in all three available lots. I also found that they really crammed the tables in. Our first table was so small that my face was actually pressing against a wall curtain, with no where to hang my bag. When we asked for another table (which they were very gracious about) it still seemed that conversations in that dining room could be heard by all. I just found it a bit disconcerting to know that the couple to my left was on a first date and the couples on our right were unhappy at work, never mind that my friend is dealing with the end of her marriage… we must have put a damper on those couples nights as well! And finally, the reason that most people go to a restaurant, the food. Yes, they have an extensive menu, but I found trying to read 8-pt font by candlelight was a challenge and the things we ordered, while the descriptions were intriguing, were a bit "off". I started with the tenderloin brushchetta, but question why they term it so when the toast was more like reverse french-onion soup -- that soggy and overall under- seasoned. My friend got the fried calamari but thought that the hot peppers simply overwhelmed the dish. My friend's main course was actually an appetizer, the korean short ribs, and she found them to be underwhelming, a bit sweet and dry. I ordered the swordfish special and was very disappointed: the fish was dry, the rice was absolutely soaked in a butter-like slick and the beurre blanc sauce had a cloying floury taste that neither salt or lemon could rectify. As other reviewers mentioned, they were full to the gills, so I am assuming that on a quieter night or an earlier time we may have really enjoyed the place since the service was great and we did not feel rushed, but we left feeling a bit let down and rather mixed about our experience.
