“Nice, but buggy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2005

The Inn at Middletown apppeared to be the perfect hotel. The room seemed clean and well decorated, the workers friendly and approachable, and the restaurant good. The location certainly can't be beat if you're visiting the nearby Weslsyan University. However this means little to me as I woke up to find the a large cluster of bug bites behind my knee (I'm assuming bedbugs). The cluster of bites has remained for over a week. Gross! So, The Inn at Middletown appears to be a very nice stay, but beware of the bugs.

Stayed July 2005

Unfortunately the reason why we were here was because of a funeral for a close relative in late Feb of this year (2005). We are originally from Ct and moved to Virginia. We had about 4 or 5 rooms reserved for relatives from different states as well. So basically it was kind of like a family reunion also. This hotel definitely made it memorable for everyone. If you ever need a place to stay where it is convenient, clean, and classy this is the place to stay. The prices do vary but affordable for this type of place. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It also has valet parking in which isn't so bad considering that parking on the street isn't such a good idea especially when it snows. Our kids loved the pool & jacuzzi. The restaurant had very good food and the bar was very relaxing. Overall , if you are tired of hotels that are overpriced and not worth the money and don't really have that relaxing feeling then you will not be disappointed at this one. So whenever you are in the area and need a nice place to stay, you know where to go.

What a great little hotel just a block from Wesleyan University!
My wife and I checked in after a long drive from NC. The staff was warm and friendly and anticipated our every need. The rooms are very comfortable (brand new) and the beds are incredible. They have small fitness center, however it has the most used equipment with 2 treadmills; 2 recumbent bikes and a multistation weight unit. They also have a nice indoor pool and sauna.
The restaurant is called Tavern At The Armory. The food is amazing and my wife says the clam chowed is the best she's ever had. My favorite was the chicken pot pie and creme brulee (sp?). In short, if your going the the Hartford area, stay with these guys because they have the best hotel in the area.
