I've been a resident along the shoreline for most my life, but for some reason I had never been to cafe Allegre until a couple months ago. I had known of it when it was under different ownership and under different names. I had the preconceived notion that it was just another overpriced over-rated restaurant that only got it's business from out-of-towners who often like to visit Madison & the shoreline. There aren't many other restaurants in town.

My preconception was wrong. The food was great, the prices were good, and the service was excellent. Nice good italian food. This Italian-blooded boy would definitely go back again.

When i came the first time to dine in i was shocked at how beautiful the building is in and out. I was promptly greated by the matrie D who immediatly took us to our table. The tables are nicely spaced and very comfy chairs. Ambiance is excellent. Well we orderd food came quickly and boy it was amazing. Ive never had italian food like this at any restaurant in CT before. In dine in NYC frequently and Cafe Allegre is right on par with the best from NYC. I had a sea bass special and man was it special. I ate the entire thing and was looking for more and it was a big portion. Id recomend this restaurant to anyone.

We had an absolutely wonderful lunch at Cafe Allegre. The service was great. The Veal Milanese that I ordered was a portion larger than some dinner portions at other restaurants, and excellent. The crab cakes my husband ordered were excellent as well. We'd stop back again any time we're in that part of CT.
