My wife and I would just like to take a moment to thank our hostess, Alicia, for her hospitality and tell her what a terrific time we had staying at her inn over the past few days.

She and her staff were very helpful and accommodative and met our every need. It certainly made our vacation more delightful.


We look forward to staying at the Tollgate again in the near future.

The rooms are simple but clean. It is a family run business that runs a restored B&B. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel with lots of ammentities this is not the place for you but if you are looking for a place with character that brings you back many years with tons of charm inside and out this might before you. The food at the B&B's restaurant is devine and the best dining experience in town. Stick around long enough and you will be able to compliment the chef {in person) on his culinary creations!!!

The restaurant is very cool, Revolutionary War era, but the hotel is pretty average although the management was very nice. If I visit Litchfield again I would stay on or near the green. Terrific little town.

I was extremely disappointed with our room at the Tollgate Inn. The room didn't resemble the web photos that were on the website (or they did about 10 years ago) and it was much smaller than the panoramic view depicted. I expected this historic building to be old and "rustic". However, I did not expect the mattresses and sofa to be "vintage" as well. The pull out sofa was very stained, soiled and just plain shabby (unable to sleep on it as it was simply a bunch of springs with a cover on it). When we spoke with the staff about the condition of the pull-out, they offered us a cot. It was sagging in the middle and clearly ready to fall apart. I would have been embarrased to offer it to a guest. The mattress on the bed was also very threadbare and in need of replacement. The bathroom was also very disappointing. Had the room been inexpensive, it would have been more tolerable. However, for $200.00/night...our expectations were definately not met. I could not in good conscience recommend this place to anyone.
