I used google to find inns in the Litchfield area. I was really excited from the photos on the website, and was sorely disappointed when we got there. We had the mid level room and its was very "motelish." Bathroom extremely cheap looking, shower droipped all night, room not very attractive. I asked to upgrade my room but there were no other rooms available. We had a great time pottering around Litchfield for the day none the less. Its a beautiful place. We had planned to go back into town to eat at the West Street Grille but popped into the bar for a drink- it is a warm, relaxing place. That changed our minds and we went back for dinner and had a truly outstanding meal. Great service, interesting food preparation. Had a drink at the bar afterwards. I WOULD go back- but for the restaurant and becasue its a very quick night away from NYC. But I'd be going back in spite of the rooms. If they overhauled them this could be a special place. Skip the breakfast by the way. Its in a basement and is really unimpressive.
