“Honeymoon Suprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

My wife surprised me for our honeymoon and brought me to the Stonecroft Country Inn, Connecticut from Long Island. This was a great venue with a homey rustic feel. We stayed for two nights in the Buttery (located in the 1807 building). The room was great, spacious, and had a little porch for those to sit outside. This B&B was very close to all the sites in the Mystic area and was yet far enough away to enjoy the country atmosphere. The 1807 building has a lot to offer with a fireplace, books, games, common room, and fantastic 19th century ambiance. This was a fantastic romantic getaway especially during the fall season.
Innkeeper Jason and his staff was tremendous, helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel relaxed and happy. We will be returning next year for sure.

My son and I spent one night at Stonecroft Country Inn while visiting a nearby college. Our room, Shubel Suite, in the Grange, was spacious and beautiful with a huge bathroom and a fireplace. We appreciated the delicious cookies left for us and the delicious breakfast. The Grange is the newly renovated part of the inn and in addition to the rooms contains the dining room. Although the Inn filled the bill for us, it is a beautiful and very romantic place and I would especially recommend it for a romantic getaway in a beautiful part of Connecticut.

The Stonecroft Cointry Inn couldn't be better located for a trip to some of Connecticut's favorite locations. Surrounded by the tranquil, wooded, Connecticut country side and located within an easy 20 minute drive of the Foxwood casinos, Mystic seaport, Interstate 95 (for easy access to Newport and the rest of Rhode island) this B&B is not isolated from great activites, yet still retains the quiet, rustic, surroundings that one looks for in a country inn. The other great feature offered at Stonecroft is the ability to fine tune your B&B experience. If you enjoy taking a trip back in time to experience the ambiance of a 19th century home, the rooms in the 1807 house with their original wooden floors and wood fireplaces are for you. If you want to update slightly,
then the Grange with gas fireplaces, TV and larger rooms is a better
choice. Few B&B's offer these options. Again speaking about location, as a Long Islander I
appreciated the Inn's proximity to the Orient Point to New London Ferry, another unique and enjoyable part of our trip. Breakfast in the spacious yet cozy dining room was wonderful and the grounds peaceful and relaxing. I highly recommend a visit to this wonderfully located property!

Room Tip: We loved the Sarah suite in The Grange. Looking forward to trying a room in the 1807 House next visi...

My husband and I stayed here for our 1st anniversary. The room was very nice, complete with a fireplace, balcony overlooking the grounds, and a jacuzzi tub. It was a little warm in the room but we were able to open the balcony door to air it out. The innkeeper, Jason was very kind and helpful! The decor was very country but not in an obnoxious way! Very cozy overall! Breakfast was good as well, I wish there was more than 2 options but overall no complaints! Location is convenient - less than 20 minutes from both casinos, Mystic, and several wineries. We are from CT and really enjoyed our semi local getaway in this very cozy inn!

My husband and I along with our good friends spent the weekend after Superstorm Sandy came through Connecticut at the inn. We had a wonderfully relaxed time in a beautiful setting. We had a late arrival and before we got out of the car we were greeted by two deer resting on the front lawn. Our rooms were beautifully appointed in traditional decor with all the modern conveniences. Everyone is warm and welcoming and it is their genuine wish to make your time at Stonecroft enjoyable. Breakfast is included and it is cooked to order although there is a limited selection. None of us wanted to leave and we will certainly return in the near future.

The Stonecroft is special to us--we became engaged there on New Year's Eve. We never regretted choosing this locale, either. The rooms are old and charming, bed was VERY comfortable, and to have a lovely dining facility on premises is SUCH a bonus for a B&B...most don't serve dinner at all. The food was well done, and the atmosphere was lovely. The property is beautiful as well. Well worth at least one visit to try it out...I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Room Tip: The Stonecroft is a lovely room. Not only is it nicely appointed, but the murals on the walls are f...

Thank you for posting your review after so much time. Unfortunately, since your stay last year, we have decided to focus on our inn guests and operate as a Bed & Breakfast Inn and move away from the a-la-cart restaurant. But one of the great benefits of our locations is the many excellent restaurants within 5 miles - both in Mystic and the Casinos!

Bf and I came here for a weekend getaway. The inn is very cozy and clean. Rooms are clean, but have the musty smell of an old house. What we weren't told is that there are no wi-fi in the main house-there is only internet if you stay in the grange building. Breakfast was just okay.

Room Tip: Stay in the Grange Building if you want internet.

Thank you for your feedback, although we do have free, wireless internet in both buildings. In fact, we have a "booster" in the 1807 House so the signal reaches all of the rooms and out onto the patio. Also, please remember that this is a 205 year old house with 6 working wood fireplaces. Now that it is cooler out and they are back in operation, there will be a slight smoky smell when they are burning. This is the charm of the 1807 House. If you are sensitive to this, I recommend staying in the Grange. (gas fireplaces)
