“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

My husband and I enjoy getting away from the crowds when traveling. Studios Petra was the perfect place for us, not only because of its location but also because of its ambiance. Loula runs a beautiful little hotel with good-sized studios (with kitchenette). The gardens are beautiful and add to the relaxing atmosphere. Loula herself is a delightful host and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The WiFi is excellent and the daily cleaning of the studios is remarkable!
Beds and pillows are comfortable; air conditioning works beautifully!
You do need a car to get around--but there are great beaches and great tavernas very nearby.
We will definitely return to Kastraki and Loula's studios in the future.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to spend additional days in this charming and peaceful place. Loula contributed a lot to our unforgettable vacation in Naxos. She is a very helpful, friendly and generous host. The rooms with kitchenette are spacious, bright and perfectly kept. Especially the studio upstairs with 2 balconies and the sea view is most pleasant. A wonderful garden is carefully maintained. Kastraki offers an endless sandy beach and few restaurants within walking distance. To be independent we rented a car to visit the island and it was always a pleasure to come back in the evening. We highly recommend Studios Petra. Many thanks to Loula.

First off, I can confirm that everything you read in the previous reviews is true. The welcoming is amazing, the room maintenance is spectacular. From the moment we arrived, I started to feel completely relaxed and in the "vacation mood".

Studios Petra is located in Kastraki, a very small village that is really accessible by car without any significant bus service. So, if you want to get there, better have transportation. Because of this, the place is blissfully calm with the sound of the wind in the big bougainvillea punctuated by bird songs. What we appreciated is that you don't need to use your car to do everything once you're there. There is a small mini-market by the beach which was surprisingly complete for breakfast fare, even with local produce (try the homemade jam from the fridge). The nearby beach is quite acceptable and not too populated. If you want to use your car, by all means go to Aliko (5 minutes by car) which is almost deserted and spectacular. Also, in the immediate vicinity, there are two excellent restaurants just up the road and one of them is considered by many the best on the island. (It's our opinion too.)

We had a studio upstairs with an amazing view. Every morning, we could take our time on the balcony, having breakfast and basically having blissful moments. When we were out to the beach, the studio was cleaned to a level rarely achieved (even in my home)... There was not a single thread of dust anywhere to be seen. Voula and her family do a perfect job.

The wifi Internet connection was working flawlessly and I could hold a voice conversation without any interruption with Skype. Remote desktop connection to my office in North-America was also flawless.

Aside from this, simply talking with Voula is a pleasure and she is very helpful with anything that we needed. So, if you need a relaxing time in the Greek islands, Naxos was the island we preferred and Studio Petras is the perfect place to be.

It’s no surprise that Studios Petra gets such positive comments. The family have created a welcoming, hospitable and lovely space to enjoy your holiday. Our room was spacious, and the standard of the fittings, crockery and cleanliness would shame some ‘upmarket’ apartments. It is undoubtedly the best apartment we have ever had during many Greek holidays. The host, Loula is like a best friend who really wants her guests to enjoy their time on Naxos. There’s an OK beach within walking distance, and plenty of superb beaches a little further afield if you invest in a set of wheels. Also, a couple of excellent tavernas a five minute walk away.

Kastraki is a quiet and relaxing rural village but the capital, Chora, is only half an hour’s drive/ride; and a trip into the Tragea and the mountains is well worth doing.

If you appreciate tranquility you’ll want to come back.

The studios Petra is a small family run business that gives five star service that some major hotel chains could learn from. The studios are immaculately cleaned daily to a high standard with linen and towel change at a time not to interfere with the guest. When You arrive the first thing that takes your breath away are the beautiful maintained gardens with vibrant colors and an oasis of blooms and the smiling face of Loula the best hotel / studio manager in Greece (anyone that has stayed at studios Petra will back me up). If your visiting Naxos and want a base you will not beat Loula and the studios Petra... If you want peace and tranquility come to Naxos , there are miles of sandy beaches and very few people on the beaches a car or bike hire is a must as there are so many beaches and coves to bathe on and on food all I can say is be careful what you order as portion size can be extremely large. Tips - studios Petra book early and get the sea view with two balconies and always sun, try the hammocks in the garden great with a glass of wine, two tavernas on the main road one to your right another fifty is best but gets crowded, plakabeach nude and semi nude, and don't miss watching the kite surfing as they jump the boards 10 -20 ft out of the water.

Room Tip: Top room sea view two balconies

Stayed here 3 days 3 nights. Unexpectedly travelling alone. Upon arrival Loula was amazingly welcoming and did all she could to make my stay comfortable. Room was spotless and good size, with a good kitchenette and fridge which I quickly stocked with good local cheese and wine from the shop up the road in Mikri Vigla. Great shady garden with hammocks (2) to relax in if required. Within easy walking distance of the almost empty beach (containing a handful of free sunbeds) and a single good restaurant (try the grilled mackerel) and some very good restaurants just up on the main road 5 minutes away. Kastraki is a very quiet and relaxing place, ideal for people who just want to chill out, and a bit quieter than Mikri Vigla. I had a car and would recommend you have your own transport when there - I was not aware of any public transport while I was there. Highly recommend both Studios Petra and village.

General note re staying in Greek islands, try and stay with a family run operated place such as this as they go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

When we found Petra Studios on the Internet, it sounded like a lovely place to stay. Little did we know what an incredible place it was!! Loula and her parents set a new standard of hospitality. Set amongst beautiful gardens, the quiet rooms are impeccably clean and well-appointed. All services at Studios Petra were way beyond what we experienced anywhere else. Dining opportunities and small grocery stores were easily within walking distance. The nearby beaches were beautiful! Loula was attentive and went out of her way to make our stay a wonderful, memorable experience. We will definitely return!!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely. In the future, however, we would ask for an upstairs room with a balco...
