“A Real Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

This is our favorite spot in town. We dined here during the Autumn and loved the cozy atmosphere of the fire. We recently came back this summer and the place was bustling with activity. The live music provided by the piano player is enjoyable while dining here. And the food is delicious - lobster tagliatelle and fresh blueberry pie, I'm just salivating thinking about it. Located right in the heart of town (and conveniently near the Starbuck Inn where we stayed) this restaurant is not to be missed!

“one of the few in town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

excellent wine list; it is one of the very few restaurants in town, so it does a good business. the menu is somewhat uninspired - do stay away from the hamburgers - and meat dishes can be surprisingly tough and/or inedible - but avoid those and it is pleasant enough for lunch or dinner.

“Great, as usual.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

This place is one of our favorite spots to stop when we're doing a road trip through western CT on a beautiful day. Kent is a picturesque town on rt. 7, and the Fife & Drum is right in the center of town. I usually order French onion soup, which has a dark, rich broth full of carmellized onions under a cap of melted Gruyere; among the best I've had. The menu board lists the daily offerings; there is no set menu that i've seen. The servers have been there forever, and service is prompt, polite and professional. This is a great place to stop to add a special addition to a great day. On our most recent visit, the owner, an accomplished, well-known former pianist now over 90 was playing a medly of familiar tunes while we lunched, which was really great. Be sure to visit the gift shop in the adjacent building.

“Kent Classic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

The Fife and Drum restaurant is always a wonderful dining experience. I love it in the spring time when there is a fresh flower on the dinner table (I also love it in winter when there is a cozy fire in the fireplace.) The Caesar salad is authentic and one of the best anywhere. Their duck is delicious (and it's fun to watch it being flambeed at table side.) The wine list is remarkable. This restaurant is truly part of the fabric of the town of Kent, and a must-visit to experience the place.

“Impossibly awesome salad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

All the food was really good, but they had a special salad with prosciutto and asparagus that was too delicious to believe!
