The best thing about this hotel is the architecture, not only historically, but also with the attached restaurant and the loft room. Loved the space with the lofts; I haven't seen this unique room arrangement before. Staff is warm and welcoming. Kitchen is full-service - we didn't stay long enough to use it, but I would definitely consider staying here for a longer term stay. I would have liked to see two bed options, rather than simply one king size (we don't consider sleeper sofas as comfortable options). The one and a half baths was convenient. Unfortunately our television was not working. We had to call downstairs to get an engineer to fix it (we had ordered in pizza and wanted to order a movie; when that didn't work, we wanted to watch tv, but unfortunately, no entertainment was available in the room then). The engineer took a sort-of look (not terribly thorough - slapped the back), then said, oh, we have had lots of problems since transferring to a new system. Nothing I can do, sorry. We offered him a piece of pizza for taking the time to come up, and he commented that we wouldn't believe how many people have complained about the television service. Well, that's part of the hotel service, isn't it? Some accommodation should have been made, but they said they had no other options (not quite good enough for us). The only other negative aspect was the noise level in the upstairs bedroom. Unfortunately we were next to some pretty rambunctious kids - at 6 in the morning, when we had planned to sleep in until 9 a.m. No chance. They were running rampant, up and down the stairs, screaming, and we heard every little bit of it. The attached steam brewery restaurant was excellent (the pizza restaurant on the other side, only so-so), with an interesting history, great beer on tap, terrific foodie choices - love that it was there so close. Had we had quieter neighbors and a television that actually worked - either upstairs or down - we would have offered a higher rating for this architecturally distinct, well-located and interesting hotel.
Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a quiet room, and ensure you have working television and movie service before...

I have to agree with you that our hotel does have amazing, historical architecture. I am happy to learn you found our accommodations to be comfortable and were able to make a visit next door to City Steam Brewery as well (it's one of my favorites)!
I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with your television during your stay. We discovered the signal component to the televisions is inadequate and we have addressed this issue. Please feel free to contact me personally at 860-524-5550 so we can discuss further and make things right for you.
I hope you will come back to visit us if you are ever back in the Hartford area on business or pleasure!
