“Fun day out with the kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

The kids (11,10,7,1) and I enjoyed a wonderful day at the CT Science Center. We went on a Wed. and there was barely anyone there. The kids had a great time exploring the exhibits and watching Tornado Alley 3D in their IMAX theater.

The museum was very, very clean and well kept. Every exhibit was in working order. There was something to please every age group at each exhibit. A lot of thought went into the layout of the museum. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

The museum is very easy to find with easy access on and off the highway. We parked in the main garage and I thought the rate was reasonable considering you're in downtown Hartford. It's right across the street from the riverfront. So next time, maybe we will continue our day out with a walk along the river.

We brought our own lunch. (Two of my sons have food allergies). They had a nice long table set up outside of the cafe for families who brought their own meal. The cafe looked good, and there is plenty of seating.

They have a fun water exhibit for the younger children with smocks to help keep their clothes dry. However, it was a good thing I had a change of clothes for the 1 year old. Another little boy dumped a bucket of water on my little one. He didn't mind, but he did need a change of clothes.

Restrooms are plentiful and very clean. They are conveniently located throughout the museum in each exhibit area with plenty of family bathrooms.

We are a homeschooling family and we take many "field trips" throughout the school year. We have visited many, many museums in New England and this will definitely be a museum we return to.

“A full day's worth of fun.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Took our 7 and 9 year old boys and spent 7 hours here, including about 30 minutes for the i-max style movie about dinosaur evolution. The favorite spot was in the "water room," where kids can build lego structures/dams. Probably could have spent the whole day in that one spot! Great interactive exhibits on energy, robotics, weather, conservation, you name it. Each exhibit has plenty for the kids to touch and do. Our boys begged to go back the next day. Beautiful building, clean, with a small cafe on-site. Parking garage attached ($19 max. parking fee) and easy off/on from the highway. We'll be going back. Note: They don't take reciprocal memberships, and if you want a AAA discount, you need to buy the tickets from AAA. They do offer teacher discounts, so teachers, bring your i.d.! We ended up buying a season pass, which will more than pay for itself in 1 more visit, and the pass will also (a special promo) get us into Mystic Aquarium free (unlimited visits) during March.

“Hands-on Activities for All Ages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Many varied, interesting exhibits, most with a hands-on element. Great, healthy food in cafe. Not as much fun when crowded though.

If you enjoy science this is for you. If you're not so keen on science you'll still enjoy the way they make science fun for everyone.

“A Very Pleasant Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

This is a anew building and the way to learn science is, for the most part, interactive and participatory. A great place to being children and adults will learn too.
