“Should have asked the locals...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Even though I've lived in the area for over 13 years, I hadn't tried Hubs. I decided to grab some dinner to take home and thought I would give it a try. WHAT A MISTAKE! Seriously, the food was inedible... which may explain why the place literally didn't have another customer there. The fritters were lard lumps with very little clam essence even, the chowder was nearly black from all the rosemary and saltier than the ocean. An order of clam strips barely covered the bottom of a french fry tray. We literally threw it all in the trash. My husband told a co-worker the next day about our experience and was met with the reply "You went there? Everyone knows you only go to Hubs for the ice cream because the food is terrible." A day late and about $20 short we now know.

“Smelled like Urine, so we left”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

This place was recommended to us by the hotel where we stayed. But, I suspect the person recommending it had not been there in a while. When we arrived we found the building somewhat dilapidated. When we went inside the whole place smelled like urine. We may not have been smelling actual urine, but that's what it smelled like and we couldn't sty there. So we left. I can't rate the food because we just could not eat there.

“A fresh seafood dive ....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We had the fisherman's platter and lobster grilled cheese - the seafood was simple and very fresh. You order at the counter and you eat off paper plates and plastic forks but it was fine. They were friendly enough and their takeout business was constant for a late midweek night.

“Pass it by”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

The place is just nasty. Food is greasy, clam fritters are heavy and have zero flavor. Prices are ok, but do yourself and favor and go somewhere else. I was so dissappointed. Ate two of the 6 fritters ordered and tossed the rest. I will never go back there again. For being a seafood place on the coast, you would think that they would know how to cook good seafood. Hey Guys, try to improve, do a better job, offer quality food. You can do it. As it is now, it is disgusting

“Greasy and Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2012

Had fried clams just after lunch rush. Apparently they were preserving the deep frying oil for dinner, because the clams tasted greasy and over-cooked. Counter person was unfriendly, seemed like she didn't really care if we spent money there or not. Would not return - food and service much better many other establishments.
