“Happy with this Hampton Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2010

This is our second stay at this particular Hampton Inn. The staff is superb--super friendly and helpful. Check in and checkout was a breeze. We were cordially greeted at each coming and going. The housekeepers did a fine job, and regular maintenance is apparently ongoing. The rooms were clean, public areas well kept, and the swimming pool was super clean and warm. Wished there was a hot tub/spa, but the pool sufficed.
The location couldn't be easier to access. Right off I-95. Conveniently close to the casinos, shopping and sightseeing in the Mystic, Ct. area. Two doors away from an Applebees restaurant- no need to move the car if you happen to be hungry.
The hotel features a free hot breakfast every morning, coffee and tea all day, and sometimes fresh baked cookies in the evening.
The room was large and had a mini refrigerator and microwave oven. The bed was comfortable, and the room temperature was easy to control. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with towels and toiletries. The only thing missing was a room safe (we personally like the ones able to store a laptop), but you can store your valuables at the front desk safe if need be. Always a good idea as hotel rooms are ridiculously easy to access when you are out ( as we had the misfortune of finding out after an expensive camera went permanently missing last year from their sister property down the road).
All in all we were very pleased with this property, and would definitely stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

Clean quiet and comfortable. Only about twenty minutes or so from the way overpriced casino hotels and about five minutes from Mystic. The staff was very friendly and the free breakfast was better than most. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip.

This is my first time trying Hampton Inn hotels and i'm impressed by it. The rooms are big and clean. There is no musky smell. The bathroom is well lit, clean and has proper amenities. Hotel even comes with free wifi internet. Also had a heated pool but alas didn't get the chance to use it.

Lets jump right into it. On check in we found that our Non-Smoking King bedded room was actually a smoking double/double bedded room. When I stated that I really didn't care about the bedding situation but I paid "Advanced Purchase" for a non-smoking room and placed in the comment section on line that "Non-smoking was the most important need". We were checking in at 1:30 pm (which is before their checkin time of 3:00) and they were telling us all their non-smoking rooms were taken. First of all, if you are going to tell someone their room type is not available then put away all those key of unchecked in guest are behind you. Why were we the ones selected not to get the room choice? The front desk guy said it was out of his control that his GM made these decisions to put people into specific rooms. Lame excuse.

During out stay we found that our room really really smelled and the house keeping basically did not exist. There was hair on my pillow, public hair in the toilet, bar of soap in tub, and a used towel on the back of the door.

The next morning we commented to the front desk girl about the issues just for the record. Her immediate response was "If you told us last night we could of moved you to another room." So I asked if they were sold out and she said "NO". I then asked "Did you have non-smoking king beds available?" She said "No but we did have non-smoking rooms with two double beds." WHAT?!?

This place better get their stories straight when dealing with guests. There is no excuse for what we went thru.

Stayed overnight with spouse and friends. The Hampton Inn is conveniently located, 10 minutes from the New London ferry and15 minutes from Mystic. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. A hot breakfast and the indoor pool compliment your stay. This is the second time we stayed at the Hampton Inn-Groton and will definitely stay again.

Has all the good things you like in a Hampton Inn. Located conveniently off of Route 95 and close to stores and restaurants. Also a good stop if you are visiting the submarine base or museum. Room was modern and pleasant. Nice touch that they kept the breakfast open late on Sunday morning.

We stayed a Saturday night after a Fleetwood Mac concert at the Mohegan Sun. MS wanted $600 for one night. This place wanted 25000 of my Hilton miles. Obviously this place won. The breakfast here on Sunday morning was great. The drama of driving to a diner, ordering, waiting, and paying a check was canceled because of the breakfast. I can easily make my own coffee and toast my own bagel. There were many choices for breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable. BTW, Hampton Inn breakfasts frequently kick breakfasts at all-inclusives right in the pants. The breakfast staff is aggressively clean. Nice. So what was wrong? When I made the reservation I called the hotel and asked for directions off of I95. They did not know the concept of North and South. Nor did they know the name of the local street that literally runs into the hotel. On Zillow I saw what I though was this building and just wanted to confirm it.

Do you have money to burn? Stay at the Mohegan Sun. It wont be cleaner or friendlier. Just a mindless status upgrade. Stay here. Take a quick cab ride to the Mohegan Sun. Enjoy the unlimited breakfast. Have fun with the money you saved.
