My wife and I stayed here for one night while going to a show at Mohegan Sun. We were not very impressed and actually a little disappointed with this Marriott property.

After arriving at our room another guest walked into the room. Apparently the front desk assigned her the same room, moments after it was given to us. Next, the shower curtain had mold on it, there was filth on the bathroom door, and there were workmen right outside the room's window (which faced a tar roof and part of the building-nice view anyway). Then the tub didnt drain and the pillows were ackward. Then there was the party that spilled into the hallway at 3am. Nice things-good shower and my wife said that the iron worked well.

We stay at a lot of Marriott properties and have come to expect a little more out of them. In the future i'll return to the Holiday Inn when visiting the casinos.

“Convenient Location, Good Quality”

Marriott Mystic Hotel and Spa

Convenient location to the local attractions (casinos, Mystic, etc.) as well as shooting up to Rhode Island beaches. Rooms were nice and the beds were extremely comfortable. Nice lobby area that flows into their bar and/or Starbucks.

Yes, it is pricey as everyone else says - unfortunately in this neck of the woods that is what you have to pay to get lodging at this level. Definitely a family hotel - lot's of families. Consider staying at the casino resorts if you want more of an adult only experience. The spa was a good break, but make sure you book an appointment ahead.

“Enjoyed the Marriott”

While out at Mohegan Sun and realizing we'd never be able to drive all the way home, we called Marriott and booked a free room using our rewards points, arrived at the hotel (at about 2 am) to find they didn't have our reservation, which was not their fault, it ended up the woman on the phone booked us at the Residence Inn. In any event, the front desk booked us a room, on the concierge level, and honored the rate/points used that was quoted to us for the Residence Inn (which i think cost a lot fewer points than this hotel, which is definitely upscale!).

Room was nice, beds comfortable, we had a view of the parking lot. Toiletries were of high quality. We had free breakfast over at the Octagon restaurant (nice touch), food was great, it was crowded though (sunday morning) so the server seemed a little stressed, and the line for omelets was long. Still, I'd give it a thumbs up! It's also right off of 95, so it's easy to get to and from!

This is a nice hotel. The room was very comfortable and well situated. The exercise facility was adequate, and there are a few adults only hours at the pool which is necessary considering that Mystic is a young family destination.

Service was also good. We had no trouble at check in or out - or at any other point of the trip.

The on-site restaurant, The Octagon, was also....good. Not "knock your socks off" good, but good.

Are you picking up on the theme here? As far as hotels go this was smack dab in the middle. It was just fine. No troubles, no stress, no messes. However for the price it wasn't the experience you dream about.

I do want to reiterate. There is no reason to avoid this hotel.
I'm just not certain that there is any reason to make it a must visit either, and as one of the more expensive properties in the area I was hoping for something more.

Breakfast was not complimentary, as a matter of fact it was quite expensive. Though you could pick up a free apple at the check in counter if you were desparate enough.

We came to Mystic to visit some of the vineyards in Stonington, spend a few quarters at the local casinos, as well as shopping at the two main areas of Mystic(we liked Mystic Villiage over the downtown area). We loved everything about the area - just wish the hotel made more of an impression on me.

I went to this hotel with a friend for one night. We went for a relaxing getaway, and were looking forward to having heavenly massages at the spa. While we DID have a nice time, and the hotel was very nice - we both felt that it was NOT worth the money. We paid about $240 for the room, and I'm not sure why. It seemed like an average hotel room. The beds were very comfortable (they were nicer than your average hotel room), there were items in the bathroom from bath and body works, and it was clean - but for close to $300 a night, I expected a bit more of a luxurious feel.

The spa: My friend and I both had massages. I had the basic sweedish massage (around $124, which includes tip and tax), and my friend had the signature massage (around $135). We were both underimpressed. It was my frist time having a massge, and I was a bit disappointed. My masseuse came a few minutes late, and my massage ended the same time as my friend (if not a few minutes earlier). The massage felt nice, but NOT heavenly. It was just "ok." At times I even heard noise from the pool, which just irritated me. My friend (who gets massages often) also felt they could have done a better job. Once again, we felt the hotel/spa didn't live up to its price.

*Bottom Line: this is a very nice hotel, but may be overpriced
