“Bad location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

this hotel is Very nice, for meetings , wedding et, lots of ballroom space et. but it is not in Mystic
It is off the highway in Groton. If you want to stay in any of the seaside towns along the coast you need to stay in the town so you can walk to the shops et.
This was central to a lot of the area, but not walking distance to anything but I-95
Also as a Platinum member of Marriotts rewards program 75 nights per year or more, the concierge level room was closed for the weekend. Usually good for a quick breakfast and coffee. I asked for a complimentary Breakfast in the restraunt and was told Hotel policy does not allow this adjustment. Not accomadating at all

We stayed here on a Saturday night when there were a few weddings going on and will never stay here again.

When we checked in we were told we had a room with 2 queen beds. When we went to the room the beds are not the queen size you have in your home but a full queen which is narrower by about 6 inches. When we called to complain, we were told they are queen size beds and to look at the label on the mattress.

All night we could here the people coming back from the weddings in the hallway whether they spoke in a normal tone or were loud. We could also here the ice maker being used although there was one room between us & the ice maker.

The next morning we heard the phone ring and the full conversation in the room next to ours.

At 9:15AM housekeeping knocked on our room wanting to make it up although we had not checked out and checkout was not until 11.

When we checked out the person at the front desk said she will make adjustments and tried to be helpful (we will see).

We are Marriott loyalists and timeshare owners but found this hotel an affront to the Marriott name.

We are very big marriott people, love Marriott timeshare properties & hotels. This hotel was everything we expected & more. So clean, updated & fancy. Our girls felt so special walking around this beautiful hotel. Food was very good for dinner, but breakfast was awesome! They were so sweet to our girls and really gave us fantastic service. The room was so clean & upgraded, perfect for our family of 4! The front desk people were great & very helpful. We stayed for the 4th of July & they were helping us find fireworks shows in CT. So many cool things to do in Mystic & this hotel just made it the perfect getaway with the kids. Thanks Marriott for another great stay! I am proud to be a Marriott rewards member & continue to be impressed with the little things that you do to make your hotels stand out.

We stayed there this past Saturday night, we were spending a short weekend to celebrate our 10th Wedding anniversary in the area The hotel upgraded us and left us a cookies and milk in our room when we returned from dinner. All appreciated and upexpected. Here is what was not so great. If you are staying during wedding season (there were 4 weddings this past weekend) ..make sure your room is not facing the front of the hotel, it was very very loud because all of the parties were outside late, making tons of noise. We were on the third floor, so we heard it all. We also heard all the partying in the halls of the hotel until the early am hours. We were then awakend by loud crying children at about 7 am. Needless to say not such a

restful night. The room was decent ..but dusty and not up to what I consider Marriott standards. I would stay here again, however, I would make some firm requests. It is about 20 minutes from the Westerly RI Beaches. One more thing front desk staff very very nice.

Room Tip: Higher up and not facing front of hotel

Marriott property very reasonably priced, yet provides a decent room and breakfast buffet. Stayed there in June for a night. The property is conveniently located off Interstate 95, few minutes drive to the town of Mystic, where you could enjoy river, food, and walk in summer day. Marriott property is well kept- no problem parking. Would not mind staying there again.

We spent a Thursday night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were there as spectators for a dance competition and spent most of our time in the ballroom. The hotel is lovely. The lobby is spacious and beautiful and the restaurant is great. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel's Octagon restaurant. Dinner was outstanding, but on the pricey side. The breakfast buffet and lunch were both delicious. Our room was very nice and clean and even though the dance competition brought in a huge number of people, it was very quiet in the room. Location is great, right off the highway. The excercise room looked great, but we weren't there long enough to use it.
