“Very poor and over priced”

Marriott Mystic Hotel and Spa

Looks good on the website and from outside. Paid silly money for one night with the expectation of luxury...Luxurious is not a term that could describe this place. the lobby is beautiful. Arrived at 4 p.m. and had to sit admiring beautiful lobby as our romm was not ready. staff on the front desk are slow and unapologetic and the porters never appeared to shift your luggage. No fridge in the room, bathroom tiny with mould all round the bath and on the shower curtain. I complained and was subsequently shown 3 more rooms complete with matching mould patterns...I can only assume that this is a feature of the hotel and maybe that's why we paid a premium. very noisy air con, dirty hallways with room service used crockery decorating the floor. Towels by the pool were old and crusty. Service in informal restaurant was particularly poor-waitress tried her best but service was absolutely appauling-I didn't get a drink until almost finishing my second course-following a wait of I don't know how long-The food was just about edible. Glad I hadn't booked more than one night here. Escaped quickly in the morning. False advertising-lesson learned.

This is the best hotel in the Groton/Mystic area. I come here about twice a month for business. The staff is superb, helpful, and friendly. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The gym is serviceable with treadmills, bikes, nautilus machines, and a smith machine. The pool and hot tub are relaxing. The concierge lounge just upgraded their food, so the late afternoon hor'dourves are a treat. If you stay on the concierge level (6th floor), the in room Voss water is free. The breakfast buffet is great with an omelet station, waffle station, pastries, fruits, and meats. This hotel has enough nice touches to make one feel at home.

My husband and I stayed at the Mystic Marriott August 10-13 and had a great time!

Our room was very clean and we had an amazing view of the reservoir. The hotel is a few miles from downtown Mystic but we preferred to stay away from the tourist hotels. This hotel is very quite and has a beautiful Elizabeth Arden Spa. We did pay more to stay at the Mystic Marriott verses the Hilton but it was worth every penny. We enjoyed it so much we are already booked in October to go up and view the fall foliage!

I would recommend this hotel!

We stayed at this hotel for our 31st anniversary. We stayed on the Concierge level and found the service and food in the lounge very good. The hotel gave us free buffet breakfast in the Octagon for all three mornings of our stay and they sent up champagne and chocolates for our anniversary. The breakfasts were wonderful. We had cooked to order omelettes, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit and beverages.

The hotel is centrally located for Mystic Seaport, Foxwoods Casino and Mohegan Sun. This is one of the hotels that people stay at when the casino hotels are booked. The front desk people were very polite and friendly. They assisted us by suggesting things to do during the day and gave us directions to the casinos in the evening. The town of Mystic had some interesting shops and Old Mystic Village had a whole collection of shops. We did not visit Mystic Seaport Village which is a recreation of shipbuilding, nor did we visit the aquarium. We did visit a village town named Essex, which was very historic and quaint and spent a nice afternoon there.

We had a room with a King size bed, a tv, a small couch and a desk. There was nothing special about the room, except it was immaculate and very quiet. The fitness room was well equipped. They also have an indoor pool and hot tub. There is a Spa at the hotel with all the services. Other posters have complained about the expense of the hotel. We felt the value ($249/night) was fine. However, if you are a gambler then there are budget hotels nearby. You are 20 minutes from Mohegan Sun and 25 minutes from Foxwoods. We preferred Mohegan Sun, it was more modern and the layout was better. Unfortunately we did not win in either casino. One thing to keep in mind is that on Tuesdays Mohegan Sun has 2 for 1 buffet and on Wednesdays Foxwoods has a 2 for 1 buffet. We paid $16 for two people at both places and the food was excellent.

If you are looking for a short getaway for 2-3 nights in a hotel that is above the average then this is the place for you.

“Fantastic!”

Marriott Mystic Hotel and Spa

I can't recommend this hotel enough to anyone travelling on the East Coast. We arrived and felt that it may be a bit of a conference hotel close to the motorway. However it was much better.

We only stayed one night on a journey up the East Coast but it was the best night weer had on our whole trip.

The staff were really friendly at check in and helpful. Our room was huge - easily enough room for the five of us, it was well decorated and very clean. The kids just wanted to go to the pool and this was also good - clean and well looked after.

The best bit though was the food. We ate from the bar menu as the Octagan restaurant was a bit too high brow and quite expensive for our kids. But judging by the quality of the food you could have been in the more expensive restaurant. The best crab cakes we have tasted!

Mystic Seaport is also worth a mention as we had probably one of our most enjoyable trips visiting this attraction. The staff were excellent and you really felt they wanted to talk to you and explain their section. I would highly recommend a visit.
