Oh, how I wish we read these reviews BEFORE we stayed here. Big mistake. Three of us stayed here 2 nights in their 'suite' ... the one someone in another review describes and couldn't check into because there was a flood. Well I guess they dried it up enough to stick people in there because that's where we were. Room 207. Here's the rundown of the disgusting things we encountered during our stay:
* Young girl checking us in - she could barely be bothered to look up to welcome us. Then as she checked us in she was watching a TV show on the TV just over our heads. She laughed and stared at the screen for a few seconds and then slowly went back to the check in process. She was NOT friendly at all, barely said a word t us. Rude actually. Sorry to be a guest at your hotel checking in during your show... Horrible service.
* The room (#207 - suite w/ 1 queen bed and 2 doubles) was the dingiest thing we'd ever seen. Sparsely decorated and dirty everything.
* We immediately took the comforters off. They'd clearly never been cleaned.
* Stains on the blankets
* Water stains on the box spring. Gross!
* Quickly noticed dried boogers on the wall above one of the beds. Yes, boogers!
* Ink on the walls as well.
* Tape and a piece of leftover purple streamer on a light fixture - someone had a party there.
* Lamp shades that were dirty and cracked (see photos). I can't even believe this is a nationally known hotel chain.
* Stains in the bathtub - and a HAIR left in there. Not exactly a thorough cleaning job.
* Dust and dirt throughout the bathroom - we cleaned w/ Clorox wipes before we'd use anything.
* Dust and little bits of god knows what all along the perimeter. God forbid they use a handheld vacuum accessory to really clean the place. The chairs were even dusty.
* The microwave was falling apart
* The coffee maker had the previous guests' used coffee filter still left in it.
* The hotel smelled. The hallway in the lobby (like Indian food), the elevator (like smoke) and the hallway on the 2nd floor like stinky food as well – the owners must live there.
* There were always a couple of men (or at least one) standing in the lobby for no apparent reason. Not sure if they were part of the management or what but it was creepy.

I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting but this place was just so gross. We tried to get out of there but everywhere else we called was sold out. So we spent as little time there as humanly possible and showered w/ our flip flops on (we bought our own towels and sheets at Wal-Mart across the street).

Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT stay here if it's the last place on earth. Sleep in a tent!

We stayed here for 6 nights total with our 3 children. We originally booked a "family suite" with 1 queen bed and 2 double beds which would have been perfect for all of us. When we arrived, however, we were told that the suite we booked had flooded and since they were overbooked, the only one they had left was 2 doubles and a sofabed. Since, we were exhausted after having driven straight through from Florida, we agreed and my husband and I each took a double bed and my oldest son took the sofabed. We got a whopping $8.00 off the bill for the inconvenience! I strongly believe that if there is a problem with the original booked room, and the hotel cannot provide a new room with the same amenities, you should be notified immediately by phone.

We got to the room and it looked as if the room above us was the one that had flooded. The entire hotel had a musty smell and the ceiling above us was severely water stained. The ceiling in the bathroom was not only stained, but had a hole in it where it looked as if someone shoved some papertowels up there to stop a leak.

The towels and sheets had stains on them and the "maids" were mediocre at best. We returned from one day of sight seeing with our pillows just thrown in the middle of the bed.

The continental breakfast was the smallest one I have ever seen in a hotel. The best part was the apple juice out of the machine.

I grew up in Groton and had come back for a visit and this, unfortunately, was at the very bottom of the "what made my trip great" list. It was a safe place to stay, but I wasn't even close to impressed.

I am surprised that this hotel passed health inspection much less quality inspection from the chain. While the hallways had new carpet and painted walls, the rooms were the worst I have ever seen.

Problems included curtains with cigarette burns and unidentified matter stuck to them, bathroom vanity with mold in the bottom, and a horrible smell that we could not identify.

We stayed in the room long enough to call Hampton Inn who referred us to Best Western since they were booked for the night. I literally told both the Hampton and Best Western that we were "escaping" from the Day's Inn and they understood.

The only good thing about this hotel was that they did not try to charge us for the first night.

Prior to the travel, I wrote to the Day's Inn Customer Support website as I read some of the negative reviews on this Hotel to ask if they had a guarantee. The only reply I received was not to believe what others had written, but call the 800 number. I should have believed it.

We just got back from Foxwoods. We inititally booked 2 suites (with another couple) at the Days Inn in Groton. When we were researching online for a place to stay, we decided to stay at the Days Inn because it was the cheapest in the area and we figured that a place like the Days Inn had a decent reputation.
We made a big mistake. The place looks presentable from the outside, but... as soon as we got inside the reception area things got bad. It was like the old motels from 70's, & it looked like it hadnt been cleaned since the 70's either. Also, the entire hotel has a really strange odor. We got to our room & found that the room had a kitchen which we didnt request. The "suprise" kitchen would normally be a plus, except that this one was filthy. It looked like they picked it out of someone's garbage. The rest of the room was worse. The bedroom door had a hole in it & had another hole patched up... worse yet... the wall next to the bedroom door had a red stain resembling blood on it... (I can only imagine what happended in there!). The carpet was dirty & had crumbs on it. The walls were filthy. Even the fridge had a strange odor. Beleive it or not, it only took us 15 minuntes to see all of this, & I'm sure we would have found alot more interesting stuff if we had actually stayed the night. The other couple had the room across from us & when we went into their room, it was equally disgusting. We immediately drove across the street & found a room at the Gold Star Inn. The room cost $120 a night (compared to $80 at the Days Inn) but it was well worth it. The room & hotel at the Gold Star Inn was clean & the staff was friendly. The only nice thing I can say about the Days Inn at Groton is that they immediately gave us back our money (almost without question).
P.S. This is the first time I ever left a hotel & this is also the first time I have ever written a review like this. I just think the public should be warned.

WE stayed here for Labor Day. We had confirmed with the 800 # a non-smoking suite on the first floor. When we got to the hotel, they only had a smoking room on the third floor. They gave us the key to see if the room was too smoking. However, we couldn't open the door and after several tries someone opened the door from the inside. The room was NOT EMPTY. The girl at the desk said she was sorry they didn't have any other rooms and would check around to see what was available. It was only 2:45 PM. I told her that was not acceptable. We have reservations and a room should be available for us. I asked if everyone who made reservations had already checked in and she said NO. I insisted I wanted a room. We finally got a smoking room, third floor (right next to the original room she showed us). The room was Clean. we had no problems at all with the room. My husband used the pool and said it was very nice. I would recommend this motel but would make reservations directly with them instead of the 800 number.
