We went as a group for a holiday business get together. Having a separate section was very nice for conversation and mingling, though we probably disturbed some of the other diners. On the positive side, the entrees were very good. They were served hot and promptly. The steak was grilled perfectly and came as a very generous portion. The music in the lounge was very nice and welcoming and would be a great place to sit and enjoy a drink.
Cons included the overall service. Serivce was good but not personalable, the waitresses did the job but did not engage the guests. The Caesar salad was awful - small chopped pieces of browned lettuce with almost no dressing and stale croutons. The optional anchovies were just thrown on top.as an after thought. We skipped dessert since the waitresses didn't really do anything to sell it and the coffee was luke warm. Too bad they missed this opportunity to increase their tip.
As we were leaving a late solo guest came in and the hostess said to him, "well, the kitchen closes at nine so you will have to hurry up." The ripped carpet and duct tape on the front door were our parting views of the restaurant.
For the price and the reputation of Hazard Grille they really have some surprising misses. The staff does not seem to be trained very well in hospitality. We never saw a manager in attendance the some of the condition of the facility needs improvment.
