I don't usually write reviews but I really want people to know about this hotel. Mia (owner) has done a terrific job! The hotel is beautifully decorated. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and VERY clean. Great location with free parking and wifi. Amazing experience!!!

I have never been a hugh fan of B&Bs because I find them dated in a dingy way but I took a chance and booked a night in the "Corner room" and was pleasantly surprised. The owners have done a great job restoring this historic home... the king size bed was comfy, the bathroom was very modern with heated floor and a roomy stand up shower beautifully tiled. The owners were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. And definitely don't miss out on breakfast in the morning.. the best frenchtoast I've ever had!

My husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing anniversary weekend in the CT Valley and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Boardman House Inn. The owners have done a beautiful restoration of the property and have appointed it with lovely antiques in combination with luxurious linens and modern bathrooms that blend in beautifully with the decor and style of the house. We stayed in the Boardman Room, which stunning and so comfortable.

The two breakfasts we had were delicious and served on beautiful china. The french toast was in the European style, rich and crispy, and the fruit was fresh and delicious. Mia, the owner, couldn't have been lovelier. Her hospitality and good taste are reflected in every detail from the room amenities to the timely, tasty and appetizing presentation of each dish. I highly recommend the Boardman House!

If you are going to stay in this area, you won't easily find a more beautiful, happy place to stay. You feel like you are in a newly built home back in the 1800"s! We stayed in the garden suite so we had our own private entrance and porch. I saw two of the other bedrooms and they were large and excellent as well. Very clean rooms and well maintained property. Excellent location for the Goodspeed Opera House (a walk away) for Broadway shows, the Gillette Castle and very near Chester where you can fine three great restaurants. Breakfast was very good in a beautiful dinning room.

We had a fantastic time at the Boardman House Inn. Mia was a wonderful hostess and the house is in great shape - you really get a sense of the old but with all the modern facilities you expect in a luxury B&B. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice weekend away.

The Boardman House Inn is an absolutely gorgeous property located within walking distance of the Goodspeed Opera House, the Gelston House and other restaurants in scenic East Haddam on the Connecticut River. The guest rooms have been meticulously renovated to provide twenty-first century comforts with nineteenth-century charm and elegance. I was, however, a bit disappointed with the breakfast which was OK but not at all memorable. At rates like these, one would expect the food to be on par with the otherwise remarkable facility. For a memorable evening at the theater in the scenic CT River Valley, the Boardman House Inn is a real gem that is not to be missed.

We were slightly hesitant to stay at the Inn as we knew nothing about it other than the stellar reviews noted on Trip Advisor. We took a chance and…WOW!!! Excellent location with just a five minute walk to the amazing Goodpseed Theater and two restaurants. Simply elegance abounds.

Once the door was opened by innkeeper Mia, we knew that we had picked the perfect place to stay! Her welcoming and friendly persona made us feel as though we were staying at a pal’s home. The architectural features of this grand historic home are intriguing. Mia lovingly has restored this property with an impeccable sense of style.

The main entryway has a small foyer with a table that holds various tourist brochures. Very helpful as there are many things to do in the CT River area. Off the foyer is a small community sitting room. Nicely decorated with beautiful chandeliers throughout. The dining room for breakfast is bright and comfortable. Two of the guest rooms are also off this main entryway. We peaked inside and both of these rooms are spacious and stately. Lovely bathrooms and high ceilings.

We stayed 2 nights in the very private and spacious Garden Suite. Simply lovely! You walk down a flight of stairs from the main entrance to the rear of the house to gain entrance to this suite via a private porch. You can also pull your car around and park in the private/one car lot for this room. The porch has some outdoor wicker chairs that overlook the fenced in backyard. Directly across is a neighboring house and to the left are the Goodspeed Actors’ Colony houses. There are nice plantings around the Inn – the backyard is open.

The Garden Suite is bright, luxurious and private. Hardwood floors throughout. The king sized bed with beautiful bedding was extremely comfortable. There is not a television in this part of the suite but there is free WIFI. Just behind the bed is a small sitting room with a TV. The sofa can be opened (for a fee) to provide additional sleeping for a third person. Once again, very comfortable and private. Off the entry way to your right is a hallway that leads to the bathroom. Adequate and very clean. There is a shower/tub combo, small vanity with one sink and heated towel rack. Mia noted that the bathroom will soon be renovated.

Each day Mia leaves an order card for morning breakfast with two seating options – 8:30 to 9 am or 9am to 9:30a.m. . You return your selections the night before, by 8 pm, and leave in the dining room. The menu included one entrée to select and then several, simple a la carte items. Not a huge, varied selection and not a hearty breakfast - but simple and okay. The dining room is pretty. There is a small self-serve station with a Kuerig machine and a burner for brewed coffee. Creamers and sugars. A side table holds a toaster. Another buffet has china and a basket of small cereal boxes. The guests share space at the one table with your seats indicated by the name of your room. Our tablemates were interesting and the conversation pleasant.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and the Inn is fantastic. My only suggestion would be perhaps a welcoming tidbit in the dining room or your guest room – maybe a tray of cookies or scones, fruit, tea or bottle water. Wasn’t sure if any beverages were available to us through the day- don’t think they were because we didn’t see anything. Would be nice to grab something for those moments of hunger! Also, maybe a nice binder in the desk with a history of the Inn, restaurant list, attractions and other helpful information. You won’t be disappointed- and go for the Garden Suite- it is perfect! Enjoy!
