Do you enjoy paper thin walls, watered down coffee, and unfriendly front desk staff with a $140 price tag? Then the Hampton Inn Danbury is just the place. It is not surprising that this particular Hampton is in the process of being remodeled from an old Quality Inn. Yes, it has the Hampton Bed linens and the Hampton ammenities, but there is "cheap" in the air.
The pool area is nice and so is the hot tub. As you enter from the front lobby area, there are stairs. However, to keep up with the present codes, they have installed a ramp that goes to the breakfast area and on to the elevators (you can enter from the back of the building and be on the same level as the elevators).
Danbury in general has ridiculous hotel prices and even people who live in Connecticut do not understand why Danbury merits such prices. If you cannot avoid this hotel, just make sure they don't put you in any room next to the very noisy ice makers (that run all night long) or near the elevators or down the hall from anyone who is having a conversation (in their room). Why the Hampton Inn didn't build a new property in Danbury remains a mystery, as this hotel remodel just doesn't cover up the building construction problems. But the bigger mystery to me is how the owner/manager has hired such discourteous, personality- deficient people who believe they can treat anyone staying there with complete indifference. The only ones suffering worse treatment are those who come in off the street trying to get a room.
I am a Platinum Hilton member and we will never stay at this Hampton Inn ever again.
