“Dirty, Smelly, and Run down”

Wellesley Inn Danbury

This hotel was booked for me by my parent, thinking it was as nice as the other La Quinta hotels that they have stayed at. Apparently it is was recently bought by them. I stayed here July 2006.

The hotel staff were pleasant and friendly. We were allowed to get our room prior to check in time. The room hallway smelled so bad I literally covered my face with my shirt to breathe. I didn't like the smell of my room either, so I went back to lobby and told them of the bad smells and asked for another room. I was given a new room immediately, which although not perfect in smell, was significantly improved.

I asked for an extra cot, and received one quickly.
I noticed that the door connecting our room to an adjacent room wasn't locked and a key was needed for that, so I called the front desk. Maintenance person came quickly and locked the door.

Room carpeting was stained and overall appearance of room was run down. Hallway carpeting is also dirty.
Overall look of hotel interior is rundown.

When I returned later that night, smell was gone from hallway, so I assume they corrected the problem by putting on the hall a/c and using some type of spray.

I will say that they were very prompt in handling all my requests. The hotel was pretty empty at the time of my arrival. Later that night it looked booked. I'm just glad I checked in first and had an opportunity to check everything out before heading out for the day.

I was not impressed with the free breakfast. I liked that it was free but it was hard for me and my 2 kids to find something we really wanted to eat. I'm probably partially biased because my Dad had stayed at La Quinta before and told me they had a really nice breakfast. His description wasn't what this was!!

Breakfast was as follows:

Fruit: apples and bananas
Bread: bagels, english muffins and bad tasting pastries
Cereal: Frosted Flakes and one other choice
Beverage: coffee, milk, orange juice, tea

This hotel is not a place I would enjoy staying at again.

We needed an economical accomodation and next time, id rather pass. I have stayed at Wellesley Inns before and this one really gave the chain a bad name. It is not clean, their breakfast is nonexistent and the staff is uninterested. Understanding this is a motel, I would recommend, come here and expect to sleep only.

“I had no choice....But to stay here.”

This is by far the WORST Hotel I have ever stayed in, in my life! The carpet was beyond moldy, walk on this with bare feet and you may end up with fungus. The bathroom was not cleaned, there was HAIR IN THE TUB!!!! GROSS!!! I HAD to stay here because it was the only hotel with availablity and I had no power at my house for hours. In the middle of the night the power went out here also, and they only gave customers a $10 credit...??? There was no heat!!! The only thing that was working was the water... but who is going to shower in the dark..?? I am extremely dissappointed and would not recommend this place. There are other hotels that are much nicer... Like the Courtyard Marriott. The rates are really cheap here @75 per night, that is the only plus.

We left without staying there, even though it was 10:30 at night and we had been driving all day.

First, the person at the desk was extremely rude when I called to ask for directions to the hotel. Then when we got up to the room, it had a horrible smell, a combination of cigarette smoke and some other awful smell. There were also weird stains on the carpet.

I had been very clear about requesting a non-smoking room since I am allergic. I called down to ask for a different room, but the person at the desk immediately started arguing with me and, without even letting me speak, kept insisting that she had given us a non-smoking room. I wasn't sure that it was one, since I had seen a whole bunch of doors with no-smoking symbols and this room didn't have one. At any rate, I didn't care if it was one or not, I just wanted a room that didn't smell horrible and that wouldn't kick up my allergies.

My husband and I are the type of people that almost never complain about bad service, we usually just laugh these things off. But this was so bad, we decided to leave and go over to the Best Western, where we had a nice stay.

I did not feel all that good about the parking lot either at this hotel, it was kind of dark and creepy.

I booked with this hotel under the Wellsley Inn name. I booked a handi-capped room for my elderly mother on the ground floor. I booked a room on top floor for myself.
First problem was that someone tried to break into my mother's room. She woke up to an arm trying to push the window open. Scared her to death.
Security was called and a drunk was found trying to get into rooms with open windows.
My room was just o.k. My 5th floor was alive with drinking college kids on spring break. There was screaming, and door slamming into 2 a.m. I called security and they had to come up twice to quiet things down. This was the same night that my Mom's room was broken into.
Hotel wouldn't credit me a night for the scare my Mom had. I did have her moved to the room next to mine for rest of stay.
Stay away from here. Not safe, not clean, noisy and staff not sensitive to your needs.
