“Nice sized room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2011

There were 3 of us so I slept on the pull out sofa bed and it was surprizingly comfortable. The location is great - Starbucks & other amenities right down the street. The breakfast spread was very good as well. I agree that it's a little dated, but overall no complaints.

i was surprised at how dated the springhill suites in danbury was - I haven't seen a NON-flat screen in a hotel for 5 years. this TV was one of those that bulges out the backend for about 24 inches and caused the TV cabinet to take more room than necessary. the rooms were cleaned OK, but the common areas always seemed a bit dirty.

the rooms were small for a springhill suites. the mattresses were old, not up to marriott current standards. the room walls were thin and emitted lots of noise.

the breakfast service and area is so cramped and there was not adequate room for people to sit, much less move along the food line and among tables. the food was set up strangely with items that should go together being placed at opposite ends of the lines causing you to go back and forward getting in people's ways - there was no rhyme or reason where things were placed. the plates were not at the front of the line, the cold water pitchers were right next to the eggs but the cups for the water were at the end of the line. very strange and sloppy, so people kept bumping into each other.

the staff was pretty nice, but some of the kitchen and other staff kept going to and using the front desk telephone for personal calls, speaking very loudly while stretching the telephone cords across the counter to where the guests stand, talking personally. people even called in fr these staff on those phones and the front desk supervisors would go find the staff to tell them they had calls. strange. and very noisy in small lobby/breakfast area.

i like the springhill suites brand a lot but this one is very outdated and needs attention.

Great hotel. Little dated compared to other springhill suites. Very clean and very friendly staff. You can't go wrong with Marriott and this hotel is no expception. If your in the area this is one of the few good places to stay. It's a great hotel as far as limited service hotels go.

We stayed for the Annual Meeting weekend and this location is fantastically convenient and has all of the proper pluses to be very comfortable. This is our first time at this hotel and I acknowledge it was well picked to serve Bethel.

The room was very comfy, large and clean. I liked the air system. The first night, I used an 8 foot string to tie back the curtain to allow outside air flow, but the early morning street noise bothered me; the second night, I closed the window and turned on the constant run air system. You must select the thermostat setting that calls for "continuous run" of the air fan and that creates white noise to allow you to sleep okay.

Next time, I would ask for a room on the east side of the bldg--away from the street--with morning sunshine. The east side looks over a residential neighborhood.

Regardless of your diet, you can find plenty of food at the freebie breakfast. One can vary from the std. American ham and eggs to a healthy oatmeal and apple breakfast. Plenty of coffee and juice to get the sugar level up and running.

Couple of other points is the clean pool and jacuzzi area and a pretty nice work out room. They have two tread mills, an elliptical and a rack of weights. Across the hall is a shower and freebie towels to get clean. Absolutely adequate for a feeling good workout.

Food was not a big issue to us, but there is a fully stocked Trader Joe market only a half mile off and, if you did some research from other TA folks, you could find a restaurant.

Room Tip: Try the east side, away from traffic, but morning sun.

We stayed here last Thursday through Sunday. The hotel has a fitness center with a few weights, elliptical machine a couple of treadmills. It also has an indoor whirlpool and swimming pool. The lobby area has a little market where you can purchase snacks and beverages. Each morning a free breakfast is available which includes some hot items such as bacon, sausage, eggs and oatmeal. They also had bagels, muffins, danishes, cinnamon buns, biscuits and do-it-yourself waffles. I was impressed by the amount of toppings that were available for the oatmeal and waffles. During the week you get a USA Today newspaper delivered to your room. Parking was always abundant.

Our first room was a double bed room since that's all they had available when we checked in. The next day they were able to switch us to a king. The room had a separate sink outside the bathroom which is nice so someone else can use the bathroom and shower as you get dressed. There was also a separate seating area with a loveseat and a kitchen sink, microwave and small fridge. The bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned and left with fresh linens daily.

Only two complaints I have are the noise level and a privacy issue with the curtains. I could hear pretty much everything my neighboring room was doing (showering, opening cabinets, coming and going). I could also hear the people above us moving around as well. There is a set of sheer white panels covering the windows and two other small drapes that are fixed and aren't big enough to close. The first night we were facing the parking lot and I had a major problem with this. We managed to get the smaller drapes to come together with a couple pins. After we switched rooms and faced the back of the hotel I didn't mind as much although I don't understand why a hotel would have curtains that don't close.

Room Tip: I would get something facing the back of the hotel for more privacy since the curtains do not close.

Hotel met our needs. Room was clean and comfortable. One of the lights at the night table was out and inoperable. Breakfast was very limited in terms of healthy options - no yogurt - which was disappointing. Check in and out were easy and location was good.

Such a beautiful hotel. I really love the Springhill Suites line by Marriott. This hotel was a little different and not as contemporary as some of the newer Springhills are, but this one didn't disappoint.

Marriott is a great brand that you can trust.

Room Tip: I would stay here again if in the area
