Lake Compounce the amusement park was recommended to me by a passing friend. She said that my kids would love it that the lines aren't long and that there is free soda and water all day long.
Well she was partially correct there was free soda and water all day and the lines were not long at all. However there is nothing special about this park. It looks old and it could use a rehaul. From the moment we parked on a dirt gravel space which we paid $5 to park to using my Shop and Stop card for a discount I should have known better bbbbbbbuuuuutttt I took my 2 kids ages 5 and 7 or should I say there height is 42 and 47 since this is all the park cares about. It was a horrible experience since they were not able to go on many rides except for what to me looks like carnival rides. The height ruler is constantly out. Most of the rides an adult needs to go on with them( on the kiddie side) The kiddie side is like old carnival rides. Except in a carnival I am able to take them on the bumper cars,swings etc.. needless to say my kids did not have the best time but we went on vacation. The water park is nothing special the water is freezing 2 large pirate ships that spray alot of water from all direction with small slides (nothing special) the best was the lazy river which you can get off to take the big slide down. After we were done with the water park we took the boat to the other side you needed to be wearing shirts and shoes. We found roaring rapids. alot of fun but you do get soaked. and of course you are wearing your shoes and shirts really bright of this park huh! We went a few times and were soaked for the rest of the day. If this is any clue to how CT does amusement parks they need to get some lessons from PA. Amusement parks are for the whole family not to be so split up by not only height the rollercoasters which they rave about were ok nothing special. Not a place I would run back to

About a week ago, me and my family went to lake compounce in Bristol, CT. Just a note: If you have been to great theme parks like Disney World, Universal Studios, or Cedar Point (the best), you will NOT like this park. We started are day going to the themepark side. A lot of the rides were short and there were only about 2 good rides. The first good ride has to be the "Boulder Dash"! What a fun ride! The first drop is great and it has so many small hills that I could not count them all. It was the best ride there next to "The Pirate Ship" ride. The pirate ship was okay. It went high, but not high enough, but still fun! One other thing we liked was the free drinks. They had Pepsi, Root Beer, Water, Mountain Dew, and a few other drinks.

Now for the waterpark side. The waterpark side was fun, if your willing to wait 1 hour for a slide. We were there for 3 hours at the waterpark and I only got to ride 2 or 3 slides. The slide that is worth the wait was the dark one. It is located by a tall lighthouse building, in the back of the water park. One thing that was intresting was swimming in the lake. It is located at the back of the park as well. There is even a slide that goes right into the lake. Overall, we did not like the waterpark, and the whole Lake Compounce itself. Another place to avoid is the Mystic Aquarium, read that review we recently just wrote from our trip in Connecticut.

We waited 1 1/2 hours on a slide only to be told at the top of the slide that my friends shorts weren't proper attire, they were swim shorts, so they told us we had to leave the ride, then my friend was called a [--] by one of the security guards, and when we complained to management they said we were causing problems all day

With Gas prices so high, Lake Compounce is a fun day right in Connecticut. A clean park with attractions for everyone. The staff is very friendly and the staff running the rides gave direction to the rules of riding each ride to assure a safe ride.
One nice feature is free soda and water throughout the park.
Regarding the rides: Great coasters .: The hi speed Boulderdash, the oldest coaster the wildcat and the upside down with twists Zoomerang were great time for both myself and my children.
The huge water park was fun. There is also a nice beach on the lake.
We also enjoyed the company picnic at the pavilions. We had hot dogs, Chicken, salad, beans, ice cream.
If you are staying near home or want to enjoy th best of Connecticut this would be a great choice.
