I have been going to Lake Compounce for years. This is a clean park with some nice family atmosphere and some good rides. This park will not have the same amount of thrills as Six Flags or Cedar Point by far, but it does have the BoulderDash--The best wooden roller coaster ever-- and Thunder and Lightning-- a pendulum swing that scares me every time. There is the Zoomerang which is a thrilling but short coaster ride that loops once and a tower drop. Other rides are moderate like the Wildcat (coaster), Pirate Ship, Thunder Rapids (gets you a little wet), Ski Lift (Great Views), and, of course, the swings. There is also a small water park that has a couple of good water slides. You will find smaller crowds at this park but sunny summer weekends could get crowded especially in the water park and on the BoulderDash. But from experience, Six Flags, Cedar Point, and other thrill parks could be unbearable while this park should not be too bad. The trade off of course is the smaller amount of thrill rides. But with free sodas (which would cost a mint on hot days at other parks), friendly staff, cleanliness, beautiful surroundings, and decent prices, I rate this as the top amusement park in New England.

We took our 3 children, ages 7,5, and 3. There is a great variety of kiddie rides, some of which adults could ride as well. The kids had never been to an amusement or water park before, so our 3 year old was a little weary about going on rides. Our other two went on all the kiddie rides. The water park also had a kiddie area where there were 3 water slides that only children could go on, as well as swings and slides in a shallow pool for even smaller children. The park provides life jackets for all sizes at no cost as well. For bigger kids and adults there are some huge rollercoasters, and waterslides. The day we went it was in the 90's. This park has free soda, water and ICE...which was a huge savings for us, and was needed on such a hot day.

I went to The Lake with my husband and 3 kids--4,6 and 7. It took 70 minutes to get there from Greenwich.
The 2 oldest enjoyed the more thrilling rides while there was plenty to do for my 4 year old. The morning was very hot so the water rides were perfect and cooling. At around 4pm there was a thunderstorm and the weather cooled considerably. We got showered, changed, then enjoyed the dry rides. Once again, there were plenty of thrill for my older kids and a large enjoyable area of rides for the little ones. I have never stayed at a park before from open to close.
Highlights for me: The circus act was amazing--Cirque du Soleil style.
Free drinks: Help- yourself soda dispensers throughout the park including Pepsi, Mtn Dew, Siera, Rt Beer, WATER, seltzer, and ice... WOW!
The food was a little pricey, but good and we did stop at McD's on the way in and out of the park- right near the entrance.
We ate Pizza in the park for $3+ per slice.

The log ride as mentioned in other reviews was thrilling and beautiful.
During the rain, we were on the train returning from the river ride and really took some time to enjoy the magnificent property--if the weather didn't deteriorate, I would probably not have had the chance to look.
We bought our tickets at Costco for a big savings.
Finally, this is a family friendly park with a great variety of rides to keep the family smiling. I hope to return this season.

“A great family place”

Lake Compouce is a very family friendly, relaxing theme park. They have a thrilling sky ride- yeah, that's right- thrilling. It is a ski lift that goes up a steep mountainside- 45 minutes round trip- for some great views and steep drop offs that curled my toes. The river raft ride is the best I have been on- way better than Disneys. Ghost Hunt is so fun, but usually a long wait- the only long wait in Compounce, besides some water rides on a hot day. Besides that there are coasters, a drop tower and other thrill rides as well as a kiddy section. The drop tower in the kiddy section- Garfield Drop- is adult friendly too- great for adults who are afraid of heights but want to try, or as a warm up to the big drop. The log flume also blows away any other- it goes up the mountain and through the woods- you get distracted looking at the scenery and suddenly there is a drop in front of you. I can't say enough about this small park packed with fun. It is mostly full of friendly, family types... not rowdy thrill seeking teens.

We visited The Lake and had a wonderful day! The park was very clean and well kept. There was something for everyone here. My children, ages 4 and 6 enjoyed the children's section as well as the water park. If you enjoy rollercoasters, Boulder Dash is a must!! It's not for the smaller kids or the faint of heart!
The water park provides an excellent way to cool off from the summer heat. There were plenty of life guards to supervise the water attractions. They also provide life jackets for those who need them. Also, if you need it, as we did, first aid stations were on hand to care for scrapes.
The food was expensive and not really that great. They charged $5.00 for a bowl of macaroni and cheese. I'd bring a cooler in the car and have a picnic lunch next time. There are some tables in the parking lot. The free soda and water was a big plus.
They have small or large lockers that you can rent for a reasonable fee. It's definitely worth it if you plan on using the water park.
The park is just the right size to cover it in one day. The lines were not bad at all. The ride operators were very nice to the kids as well.
