“A pleasant surprise”

Concord, New Hampshire

This hotel is up on "Stony Hill", almost on the Danbury border where hotels are almost twice the cost! This is one of the area's newest hotels, built in the late 90s I believe. The other hotels adjacent have been around for some time, but have been renovated, renamed, etc...
Check-In - fine, staff was nice...
The Room - Yes, micro-sized, but large enough. Wifi worked great, "closet" had an ironing board and iron which was a definite help. Water pressure in the shower was great, water nice and hot-no complaints.
The bed - the highlight. Not sure if it's a real pillow-top mattress, or just a mattress with an extremely comfortable cover, but I had a better night's sleep here than I do at home. Mattress was firm, yet soft and pillowy if that makes sense. Clock radio a plus! You'd think you'd hear noise out in the hall ways, outside, etc., but I heard nothing and my baby never woke up in the middle of the night, so that's a good sign! Felt safe in the area, too...
The breakfast was a pleasant surprise as well - loaded with cereals, danish, fruit, juices, etc. Seemed to be a big hit with all who stayed there! For staying on a Monday, there were rooms available when we booked on Saturday, but it was filled to capacity that night! I'm sure they get many repeat visitors. Other little thing I liked was the soda/snack machines - they have them stocked with ice cream, frozen pizzas, hamburgers you can nuke, etc. How cool is that if you have a late night craving and need instant gratification! A pool would have been nice, but besides that, this place has everything you need at such a reasonable price for the Danbury area. Highly recommend!

The rooms are medium sized, but are designed well and pack a lot into the space without making it seem cramped. There is a full sized padded window seat that was really nice, desk and chair, closet with TV on top, and clean, bright bathroom with a heat lamp and fan. All the furniture looked relatively new, and I didn't see a speck of dirt anywhere on the premises. The rooms had hair dryers, coffee machines and irons/ironing boards.
The double bed was very comfortable...pillow top, crisp white sheets and down comforter, and the pillows were fresh and fluffy.
Breakfast bagels, burritos, danishes, cereal, coffee, fresh fruit, french toast and plenty of juice all were free in the little eating area of the lobby. There were snacks in the evening along the line of cheese and chips.
There seemed to be quite a few people staying here from local companies. I was here on business and pleasure, and the hotel worked fine for both.
Just a few miles down the road was a good mall with Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Pottery Barn...nice stores, good parking & prices.

Had a great stay. Stopped here on my way to Boston. Was a late arrival, but was checked-in swiftly and efficiently. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast in the morning was everything I expected and did not disappoint.

“A Deal in an otherwise Expensive area”

Driving from Maine to New Jersey we decided to stop in Bethel, CT. While on the road, we picked up one of those newsprint-style hotel and attractions books, and Microtel was in there for under $60/nt. After checking similar hotels/motels in the area, all were higher priced and some in noisier areas that seemed less safe than the Microtel in Bethel.
PROS: The price, the location (easy to shopping, to Hwy 84, to dining); clean; had internet access for free in the lobby and in the wireless in the rooms
CONS: the room size we had was itty bitty - (tiny would have not said it well) and the door didn't lock properly. At first, our tv remote didn't work so we had to get another one.
OVERALL: You're not going to do much better in the Danbury area, so you might as well get a deal! Go for it! Look for the discount coupon in the travelers guide.

This was a great small hotel that I highly recommended Jan '06 but I don't sing it's praises anymore. The towels are stained - which is unacceptable - and the hallways stink of cigarettes. I booked online thru their website and was given a smokers room although I requested non-smoking. The hotel was booked so I was stuck in a smokey room overnight. The room they moved me to had a toilet that ran incessantly, was told the repairman would fix it the next day (Sunday) of course he didn't so I had to put up with the noise of a running toilet for 2 nights. One employee stands out as being very friendly - Diane, otherwise I'd rate the employees as mediocre.
For the price it's still a bargain but I'm sadly not in love with it anymore.
