“A Deal in an otherwise Expensive area”

Driving from Maine to New Jersey we decided to stop in Bethel, CT. While on the road, we picked up one of those newsprint-style hotel and attractions books, and Microtel was in there for under $60/nt. After checking similar hotels/motels in the area, all were higher priced and some in noisier areas that seemed less safe than the Microtel in Bethel.
PROS: The price, the location (easy to shopping, to Hwy 84, to dining); clean; had internet access for free in the lobby and in the wireless in the rooms
CONS: the room size we had was itty bitty - (tiny would have not said it well) and the door didn't lock properly. At first, our tv remote didn't work so we had to get another one.
OVERALL: You're not going to do much better in the Danbury area, so you might as well get a deal! Go for it! Look for the discount coupon in the travelers guide.

This was a great small hotel that I highly recommended Jan '06 but I don't sing it's praises anymore. The towels are stained - which is unacceptable - and the hallways stink of cigarettes. I booked online thru their website and was given a smokers room although I requested non-smoking. The hotel was booked so I was stuck in a smokey room overnight. The room they moved me to had a toilet that ran incessantly, was told the repairman would fix it the next day (Sunday) of course he didn't so I had to put up with the noise of a running toilet for 2 nights. One employee stands out as being very friendly - Diane, otherwise I'd rate the employees as mediocre.
For the price it's still a bargain but I'm sadly not in love with it anymore.

HATED ITT!!
Don't stay here. The management staff does not care anything about the problems you experience while staying at their hotel. Every morning my family was awaken at 5am by the person upstairs who exercised every day for one hour. Our room shook like there was an earthquake. When I told management they told me since he was not having a "wild party" there was nothing they could do. One day I came back and all the rooms were left open as housekeeping was cleaning multiple occupied rooms at once. Anyone could have walked in and stolen your items. Breakfast juices were always out. Never received a USA Today paper. We had to beg 5 of the 7 days for towels. (One day we were only give one washcloth) And our commode and tv broke. Management never said they were sorry or offered any time of discount for the terrible stay we endured.

“Nice, clean place to stay but very noisy”

Microtel Inn & Suites Bethel

I booked a suite, which is a good size room (comes with a little kitchenette, gueen bed and sofa sleeper), and used a corporate discount so got a rate under $70. Not bad for the money.

Just a few complaints: the towels are fairly skimpy (can't expect luxury pima towels for $70) and it is VERY noisy. Can hear the toilet running for quite some time after flushing, can hear the TVs from the rooms above and to the sides, and when someone else is showering or using the sink, it is just about impossible to have a conversation without being completed distracted.

I was also very dissapointed in the way the parking lot was plowed after the recent snow storm (or not plowed). It was very treacherous trying to get out of my car and get to the sidewalk.

The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous.

All in all, a good value for the money. Since I was just looking for a place to crash for the night, it was acceptable.
