My wife and I stayed at the Alpenglow lodge for 7 nights this January and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is not the most luxurious, but, that isn't what we were looking for. All we wanted was a nice place to stay that was comfortable and clean, while we were skiing, the Alpenglow provided this. The breakfast that the hotel serves is pretty basic with bagels, doughnuts and toast the order of the day. But this did provide enough to start the day before heading to the slopes. I can't complain about the hotel the room was cleaned every day, and when my wife had a problem with the hair dryer it was replaced straight away. The hotel is ideally located, the free ski shuttle stops right outside the hotel, and some excellent restaurants and bars are only a few minutes walk away. If you can't afford to stay at the couple of hotels located at the base of the ski area, then this hotel is an ideal location. I definitely want to come back to Winter Park to go skiing in the future, and won't hesitate to stay at the Alpenglow.

My wife and I stayed here for the Labor Day weekend, for a friends wedding. We left the hotel around 10:00 am. When we returned at 7:00pm we found our room door proped open. The front desk was less then helpful. We have no idea how long our room was left open. My wife was freaked out and had me check in and under everything to make sure there was no one in the room. Since it was a holiday weekend, I had to call and leave a message for the Hotel General Manager, to let her know what happened. Did not receive a call back. Three weeks later, I left a message again. Finally got a call back. Not very impressed with this hotel. Will never stay here again. Nothing went missing from our stuff.

We spent a night here on our way back from Rocky Mountain National Park to Denver. Winter Park seems to be a natural stopping point - the hotel was full the night we stayed in August.
The accommodations were clean, and our expectations were generally met. My only complaint was that the pillows were rather thick and I did not sleep that well. However, this is a relatively common issue with motels / hotels. They had the basic continental breakfast: juice, pastry, bread, english muffin, cereal: adequate without being outstanding. The coffee was "instant" as opposed to being brewed; Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again (though I would probably get my own pillow !). It can meet reasonable expectations; however, do not expect a particularly memorable experience.

Stayed in this motel many times as the "Super8" when they converted to Best Western, they refused to honor their bookings. Not only did they refuse to honor a confirmed booking, the management rented the room to another party and evicted us on a holiday weekend. The condition of the property and the ammenities of housekeeping are all secondary to being shut out of your confirmed booking on a holiday weekend in a fully booked resort town.
