“Don't stay here.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

I have stayed at a lot of hotels, but this was amoung the worst. We booked a room online and expected to get a room like we saw in the pictures. Alas we did not. We thought we had a fire place in the room, there was not one. We had booked a room for two nights, but after the first sleepless night, we checked out and left. I don't think I have ever done this before, but I could not stay in that horrible room again. It was number 227 and located right behind the elevators and next to the pool and spa door. You could here the grinding of the elevator all night, and people yelling and running around in and out of pool area. The beds were not good, sheets were itchy and of poor quality. These were all the bad things, so I have to say something about the good things. They do allow dogs. You have to keep them on a leash and there is a 25 dollar charge. They say that housekeeping will not enter a dog room unless you are there, but we came back and found the housekeeper in our room and the dog sitting on her dog sheets. The hotel front desk were plesent, but not very helpful. The location is good, and maybe some of the other rooms have less noise. Just don't stay in one of the five rooms located behind the elevator if you want any sleep.

Room Tip: Stay away from elevators.

My husband & I traveled to Winter Park & stayed here for a few nights while skiing & doing business. The hotel was very clean. The carpets & beds were new as well. It was not a fancy room but clean, roomy & functionable. The price of the rooms was a great deal as compared to close hotels. There is a short open condola ride over to the village--takes a few minutes. I did find the other guest noise to penetrate our room walls & especially if you are above the outdoor pool. People swim til the night time closing of the pool about 10 pm. I would stay there again but ask for a room away from pool side!

Room Tip: Rooms away from pool to avoid the late night pool play & yelling!

Good value for money, great skiing. Staff were great and always friendly and positive. Very dog friendly, even had a photo wall! Pool was great, lovely and warm! Only negative, rooms were unclean. Found magazines and men's underwear above the wardrobe and items behind the beds. It was a little old fashioned, but overall not too bad!

The Vintage is a little dated but outside of that it was an excellent choice for our family and our budget. The staff was always smiling and very accommodating. The location is great! I would suggest that you rent and store your skis at the base of the mountain because you have to walk a little over a city block thru the village to the Zepher lift. It is not a bad walk at all as long as you are not lugging ski equipment. The walk thru the village is nice the street is heated and always dry and easy to walk on. The price and location is awesome!!! The hot tub is huge! The bar is ok and the pizza in the restaurant was really good.

The only negative that I would say is that they do allow pets which is cool but what I thought was rude and gross was that the owners would allow their dogs to urinate right outside the entrance to the hotel. I would suggest that they rope that are off.

We will return here next year for sure.

Room Tip: Rooms are a little dated but very comfortable. We had a kitchenette and a nice gas log fireplace.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are so happy to hear you enjoyed the Vintage Hotel and the team, we think they are great too. Just an added helpful hint, if you don’t want to rent a locker at the base of the mountain there are wagons throughout the Village that you are welcome to use to transport your skis/boards from the base of the mountain up to The Cabriolet that will take you almost to the door of the Vintage Hotel. We have added several new lockers at the base though so for convenience you can’t beat it! I shared the story regarding pets with the team at the Vintage and they thought that your suggestion about roping off the front area was a great one so we will be looking into how we can remedy that next season. We look forward to having you back as guests of the Vintage and to Winter Park Resort.

We just returned from Winter Park and greatly enjoyed our 4 day stay at The Vintage Hotel. All the staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our visit nice. We stayed in a studio unit with 2 queen beds, a fireplace, and a kitchenette. The price was very reasonable. Everything was extremely clean but the carpet and wallpaper were outdated. The mattresses and linens were all new. There was a gas fireplace with ceramic logs that worked great. Kitchenette was fully furnished with anything you would need. There were huge lockers on the 1st floor to store your skis, poles, snowboards, and boots at no additional cost. The staff had hot apple cider prepared everyday in the lobby at 4 p.m. when the lifts closed. Our kids enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub on the 2nd floor. You get on The Village Cabriolet in the parking lot at The Vintage Hotel to ride over to the shops, restaurants, and slopes at Winter Park so you really don't even need a car to get around after you arrive. The skiing at Winter Park was amazing...tons of trails for every level of skier or boarder. We had lots of snow during our visit. We would highly recommend The Vintage Hotel and Winter Park Ski Resort to anyone and everyone! Great place to stay!!! Great place to ski!!!

We really appreciate that you took the time to write such a great review and share your experience. We are happy that everything was up to standard and that you enjoyed both the Vintage Hotel team and their service. We have snow in the forecast from tonight through the weekend so whenever you are ready to enjoy more of what Winter Park Resort has to offer we will welcome you with open arms and more hot cider. The pool and hot tub are an added bonus and now with the tubing hill right at the Vintage there is even more to do après ski. We look forward to having you back again soon.

We just came from Vail Cascade and kind of expected something similar. Turned out that it was not even closed. The staff is cut down to 2 women who do front desk, maintenance and bellman at the same time. So basically service does not exist. Restaurant is fast food and pricey for that. WIFI is very spotty ( they have the hubs in some rooms...depends on your location ), Bathroom outdated...TVs are tubes and poor picture. Sauna is nasty ( stained plywood which is peeling off and mostly black/brown ). Worst thing is that they have wooden fireplaces but the fire alarm system is 20 years old and degraded. We had a false alarm and the fire chief stated that they need replacement. Follow up with the manufacturer confirmed the findings. The building - as most of Winter Park - looks actually nice from the outside and has a lot of potential with the tubing run and the gondola ( "carriage" ) that connects the hotel with the village. But avoid hotel until issues are resolved. Except for the safety issue it would be ok if you just need a place to sleep and ski all day..may be ok for pet owners as well..saw a lot of pets in the hotel..

Room Tip: No good rooms until degraded fire alarm system is updated.

I am returning to the Vintage Reort in a couple of weeks. Like my last visit, I will be staying in a Deluxe Studio with the Fireplace. I read a previsou visitor's review about the "lack of Firewood" and hope that this is not "really" how it is now, as in my previous stay's not only did they stack wood in there for me, but also were willing to come actually light the fire for me. As for the staff, I have always found them very attentive and helpful. They seemed to go out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. This time I will be traveling with my new puppy, and they seemed to be very happy to accomodate the pet for me.

Room Tip: It is worth the added costs to get a bigger room. Adding the kitchenette alone makes it worth it.

Thank you for the great review and for sharing that you are returning to the Vintage Hotel for another stay. We want to assure you that there will be firewood stocked for you and the same friendly staff you are accustomed too, my guess is you will recognize many of the faces from your last visit. We welcome you back and your new puppy too! Have a fabulous time; more snow is in the forecast for tonight and through the weekend. Be sure to let us know how your visit goes and Thank You for choosing both the Vintage Hotel and Winter Park Resort.
