Large home accommodated our 24 member family very comfortably. Plenty of space to eat and hang out together, lots of choices. Very Quiet, wonderful view of Byers Peak..
5 deer were in yard every morning for breakfast. and lots of fox passed thru.

We enjoyed our ski holiday in Chalet Sundance. Our two young teens had their own room which was situated a bot away from us, down in the dungeon, and had no en-suite facilities. Still, the chalet girls were friendly and helpful and the food they prepared was of a good standard.
The chalet is a 15 min ski-bus ride away, but we never found this to be an issue. The buses were very regular and the ski hire place allowed us to keep our equipment there overnight (next to the slopes), so no lugging heavy stuff around on the buses.
Winter Park itself was great. Very friendly people with long, wide, slopes. I'd be very happy to go back.

To Whom It May Concern,

We stayed with the Engels at Engelmann Pines in Winter Park Ranch in Fraser during the month of August and had a most pleasant experience with the original owners and proprietors of the B&B. Our accommodations were warm and welcoming as was the atmosphere of the inn in general. Excellent breakfast choices, ranging from German pancakes to Eggs Benedict, greeted us every morning. In addition, the house specialties, Bircher Muessli and Marzipan Cake, respectively, started and ended each breakfast each day. Our hosts and their home could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The stay at Engelmann Pines was the highlight of our visit to the High Country of Colorado.

Stayed in 'Chalet Sundance' for a snowboard/ski holiday in Feb 2008. Booked a twin room for myself and a friend through Thomas Cook and Crystal, although the room turned out to be a double when we arrived. Was told there wouldn't be much we could do about this as the rest of the chalet was full, and we would have to share a very small double bed. Ended up having to take it in turns on a camp bed as the double was just way too small for 2 adult friends to share!

However, apart from this hiccup the chalet was warm and cosy and food was great. Stayed in room 5 which shared a huge jacuzzi bathroom with another twin room. Living areas were nice to relax in after a hard day on the slopes, with good views of the surrounding woodland and mountains. Plenty of space in the garage for storing snowboards and boots. Not much to do in the evenings around the chalet as quite isolated. The free bus was regular each day to take us into either winter park town or the main ski area, although was a longer ride than the brochures stated. Chalet in all was clean and cosy although could do with a bit of updating!!

  • Liked — Food and friendly chalet staff
  • Disliked — Expected a twin room but got a double, outdated interior

We stayed at Chalet Sundance for one week from 26th Feb 08.

We had "the worst room in the chalet" #6 which for two (30 something) lads on a ski trip was more than adequate, very comfortable single beds and a large bathroom six steps away with a powerful shower and jacuzzi bath.

The chalet is very large and clean, the food is varied and generally of a high standard.

The chalet girls Amy and Nadia were both very friendly, cheerful and helpful.

I would recommend hiring a car to access the slopes and town as the chalet is in a residential area out of the town. Other guests used the frequent bus and seemed happy with the service.

In summary this is a comfortable, clean chalet which we would be more than happy to return too.

This is now called Chalet Sundance and is run by Crystal Holidays by the way...

Booked a twin and got a double bed - not great for two male friends going snowboarding. Got transferred to THE WORST room in the chalet. Original room had jacuzzi, balcony, fireplace, space - new room was tiny, no tub, next to boiler so impossibly hot and under the kitchen so noisy...but did have two single beds. The Crystal rep's attitude was "so what, you've got a room - I know it's a downgrade but I don't really care". That was room 2 by the way - not advisable. Then...there's the travelling. This is classed as Winter Park but is in Fraser..well about a mile up the hill in Fraser, which means that you will be travelling between 30 and 40 mins each way to the ski lifts depending on how geriatric your shuttle bus driver is. Don't think about trying to walk anywhere as the altitude and the cold will half kill you long before you get anywhere interesting. Did you want to go out in the evening? After 5.30 the bus service worsens considerably and we ended up waiting 40 minutes for a bus in -20 degrees. That kind of cools your enthusiasm for a few drinks (pardon the pun). If you like bus journeys and being trapped up a hill with 20 people you don't yet know (bound to be some freaks - we sure had them) then go for this holiday. Otherwise look for something in the town or at the lift base.
