“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Ditto to CatherineChicago and Marc g , although we were there in June. Love Winter Park in June, great paved bike trail, quiet, laid back and only $69/night for a perfect room. Well located for day trips and enjoyed sitting out in the evening in front of Dino's drinking $2 beers and delicious appetizers.

I completely agree with mark g. It is not a luxury hotel, but has all necessary amenities for a ski weekend. Located at the entrance of Winter Park, across the street from the shuttle stop and close to dining and retail. The biggest plus is the size of the rooms; they are really spacious. We have stayed at other hotels along Hiway 40 that are more expensive and have much smaller rooms. The accommodations are very basic; there is a nice continental breakfast in the morning. The owner is extremely nice and welcoming. I would not choose this hotel for much more than a 2-night stay due to the lack of amenities.

Room Tip: Room 12 on the end on the second floor is out favorite.

I booked this hotel because it was rated #1 on trip advisor. I was expecting a clean yet out dated and worn hotel. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the rooms and hotel were immaculately clean (no chipped paint, worn furniture etc.). Everything was freshly painted, comfortable beds, soft sheets, microwave, fridge and the rooms were huge. You could easily fit six people in them! The bathroom area even had its own little room attached so you had total privacy from anyone else staying in the room. It is right in the down town area so you can just cross the street and shop, or go for a meal. The ski area shuttle stop is right across the street. They also have a continental breakfast that you can easily grab on your way out in the morning. They really thought of everything. I will have to agree with one review....I, also could not get the internet to work on my Samsung pad, it kept saying it was out of range. All in all, I was tickled by the Valley Hi and would recommend it to anyone. As an added note, you should go to the Gasthaus Eichler, right down the street for a really good meal. We had the duck and venison, yum.

If your looking for luxury, your looking at the wrong hotel. That being said thou, I dont think you can ask for more than what this hotel offers. Its close to town and the bus stops to the slopes. It offers basic, HUGE rooms with plenty of space, its warm and inviting. The owner is a real nice guy always happy to help, and he has a raft of local info. Parking is easy and free, you get a locker by the door to store your gear. Its very reasonably priced, the kitchenettes are perfectly fine for what they are needed for. My humble opinion is that in a small mountain town like this, a hotel like this is a real gem. quite, un assuming and very welcoming. The hot tub is a hot tub what more can you say.

Arrived from Denver International after a long trip from New Zealand. The motel building is a bit dated but clean with spacious rooms. Very friendly and helpful manager quickly had us all relaxed. Comfortable beds, reasonably quiet for the main road position and certainly handy to retaurants and ski shops. Orange juice and croissants outside the door in the morning. We stayed for a couple of nights and found it very good value for the price paid.

Our room was very spacious, 2 queen beds and space for a roll away bed since we have 3 kids. Bathroom/kitchen was separate with a door so mom could get up and shower without waking everyone. Clean, comfortable. Beds were ok, a bit bouncy for my taste, but overall comfortable. People above us were noisy - sounded like kids jumping off the bed and running across the room until very late, so soundproofing could be better. Next to main road into winter park, the snow plows woke me at 5:00am. Got some earplugs the 2nd night. Continental breakfast was limited, but my kids loved it. Hot tub was outside and a bit too cold to go out there.

Room Tip: Might get a room on the 2nd floor to avoid noise from people above you.

We drove around Winter Park looking for a place to stay and settled on the Valley Hi. So happy we did! We have a large room, cozily furnished. The property is a bit older but the owners have done a lot to make it comfortable. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
