I cannot say enough about this wonderful lodge and the personal attention all the guests receive. Not only is the location perfect for skiing (with a short walk to the new gondola) but it is right in the village near all the shops and great restaurants. From the moment of our arrival, we were assisted by smiling staff and friendly faces. Our skis and snowboard were stored in the ski valet for the duration of the visit. Our room was amazing! We chose a deluxe king with fireplace and a lovely view of the snow covered mountain. It was great fun watching the snowplows groom the slopes and prepare for the upcoming Burton Snowboard championships. It was roomy and we loved the small kitchen like area. There was a microwave, coffeemaker and mugs for coffee. The kindness of the staff started before our arrival. I called two different times. Once, to check on the best way to get to the lodge from the Denver airport and was given three options (shuttle, private car or rent a car-we chose the shuttle). I also called the day before departure to see if the room had robes and sure enough, beautiful robes were hanging in the closet when we arrived. Slippers were brought up just after arrival. The bathroom is large and contains a huge tub, perfect for soaking sore muscles. There is a separate shower and the toiletries are my favorite by L’Occitane! The towels were so soft and smelled so amazing! I wonder how they do that! The bed was so comfortable and I loved that I could not feel my husband move at all. The room was a bit on the warm side when running the fireplace but easily remedied by opening the window to let in fresh air. Another wonderful part of the hotel is the daily breakfast. A choice of a full or continental breakfast is very reasonably priced. We enjoyed the delicious, custom made omelets and the oatmeal was out of this world. Choice of fresh juices, fruits, meats, breads and coffee left us feeling full and satisfied. Another great perk is the bar that serves drinks perfect for après ski relaxation. We found that most of the in-town bars were packed and quite loud at the end of the day. What a lovely retreat to return every afternoon to fresh baked cookies in the lodge! The owner, Rob, lives on the fifth floor and is a common sight during breakfast and late afternoons. We enjoyed our many conversations with him. The lodge dog, Speed, a beautiful, friendly, brown chocolate lab made it feel like we were staying in someone’s European chateau! If you find rave reviews difficult to believe, all you need to do is look at all the raves this one has earned. They work really hard to make sure every need is met and we will certainly return here in the near future!
Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the mountain are definitely worth the little bit extra. I would request a room...
