“Good service, friendly, walls are paper thin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2009

Nice, quick stay over Christmas. The service is friendly & professional from the valet to barista. Having one's skis taken directly to ski valet to the relaxed atmosphere in the warm & comfortable pub apre skiing was delightfully relaxing.

My only complaint was hearing a child cry repeatedly at night in the adjoining room. I am sure if we were kept awake with this they in turn must have been disturbed by my daughter's coughing.

I would stay there again, but not for an extended stay since eventually I need to sleep.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights during the week of December 7th. Our room was on the second floor in the lower 200's so we had a nice view of the resort.

We were given a room with two double beds, flatscreen tv, and a large mini-fridge. (We stopped at a grocery store on our way to the resort and bought pop, chips and other snacks to keep in our room. The food is very expensive!) The bathroom was very large with a glass walk-in shower and a large bathtub. It had stone countertops and plenty of toiletries should you accidentally leave yours behind.

This hotel does have a ski/snowboard rental shop inside of it called Charter Rentals, and that is where we rented our equipment. The staff was very helpful and really friendly which was a nice surprise. When you are done skiing for the day, simply bring your skis back to the hotel (The hotel is about 400 steps away from Lionshead gondolas - - super convenient!) and they dry out your boots and take care of your skis. When you go back the next day, they are ready to go and you can just leave your shoes with them and go ski!

Also, a local bus system stops directly outside of the hotel. This was really nice for us because we could hop on a bus and enjoy the nightlife in Lionshead or Vail Village without worrying about paying for a taxi, valet or walking back to the hotel.

The hotel concierge recommended that while out on the town, we visit restaurants such as Garfinkles, Tap Room, Vendettas, Red Lion for fast "American" bar food! It was great a great recommendation and the concierge were always spot-on with their suggestions.

We enjoyed the warm outdoor hot tubs (perfect after a day of skiing) and the fresh hot chocolate, apple cider and warm cookies they served to all the guests in the afternoons. The whole hotel seemed clean and comfortable and the ambience was that of a mountain lodge buried deep in the woods. It was SO relaxing...

When we go back to Vail, we are DEFINITELY staying at this hotel again!

Stayed one night here while driving back east from California. Being Marriott Platinum members we expected more. Our room was on the small side and we were not offered an upgrade upon check-in. The hotel was 1/4 full according to the bartender when we went downstairs for a drink so we should have been upgraded. There was no breakfast included in our room either which is usually standard with Platinum status. Our room overlooked the parking lot where there was considerable construction going on, very noisy. On the positive side, there is a shuttle bus that stops right in front of the hotel and they will drop you off in the village where all of the shops and restaurants are. Would not return to this property mainly because of the lack of customer service and the rooms are quite small by Marriott standards.

2 of my best friends and I took a girls trip to Vail for the day and stayed at this property. We were "upgraded" to a lodge room. Not sure what that meant but the room was nice enough. Got a great rate from the Marriott site.

Room had 2 double beds which were small for 2 people to sleep in that weren't cuddling. Also had a balcony that faced a mountain and I-70.

Would stay there again. People at this hotel were super friendly. Every time we passed a hotel staff person they would speak. Nice touch.

Stayed at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort and Spa for my birthday weekend, July 31. A great hotel experience is, of course, often defined by the surroundings - clean room, nice, update appointments, nice view. We had all those things at the Vail Marriott. But I truly believe that what rounds out your experience is how you are treated by the staff. Whether you are traveling on business, as my husband does every week, or traveling for pleasure for a getaway, being treated like you are the most important person on the planet fully completes the experience. Every single person we came in contact with during our stay was courteous, accomodating, pleasant, had a smile and did not seem to mind AT ALL that their job was your happiness. Unfortunately, that is unusual in today's society. Many will go a short way to get something done for you, then give the attitude that they will probably not do any more. At the Vail Marriott, from the Bellman who smiled at you as you walked through the lobby and asked if you needed help finding something, to the super friendly and sweet bartender, to the Concierge who had to juggle you and two other guests, to the Maid who apologized profusely for coming in while we were still there, and then stood and smiled while she waited to enter - the entire experience of feeling "treated" made for a fantastic experience overall. Just loved the location, the pool was fantastic and well-maintained. And the double doors to the bathroom "suite" makes a girl feel like a princess! Thank you!

I stay in over 90 different hotels a year. I own a bunch of Marriott stock and support the place as much as I can. That being said, this place is awful. The photo on Marriott website is doctored it makes it look so nice. The truth is it is jammed in the middle of a million condo units and it very cramped. For starters when we pull up the valet and bell desk is a parking lot., after a hour of trying to get somebody to help us we ended up taking our own bags to the room and had to go park on a side street. After I called the GM s office to complain multiple times I could not get the guy to call me back. The staff is very laid back and seemed more interested in partying after work then helping me. The concierge sent us to a over priced crappy BULL ALLEY restaurant where the food and service was poor and expensive. The A/C in our room did not work. We were told we had two Queens and got two double beds. The pillows are the size of Tic Tacs. It was so hot in the room I got no sleep. Wanted to open the door to get air but the noisy A/C unit outside made a hot room a better option. My kids did not want to go swimming because the pool was cold. No wireless internet. Room service trays sitting in the hall all day long. People smoking on their porches so our room smelled like smoke. TV had lines going through on every channel. They call it a resort, Its no different then any Marriott in Newark New Jersey. People like like this place must not get out much ?

Whoever is running the show at this hotel needs to be shown the door !
