My family enjoyed staying here for 4 nights. 2 queen beds and adequate-sized room. From our 2nd floor room, you can see the slopes, looking over the top of the medical center next door (I asked for higher floor at check-in, but they were booked). Heated outdoor pool, indoor hot tub, arcade room, cafe & sports bar on site, nice lobby, short walk to Lionshead (lift tickets, ski school & gondola! Shops & restaurants). Little longer walk along Gore Creek to Vail Village, or you can take the free Vail bus at stop close by. Paul, one of the desk clerks, was awesome and helped us with suggestions and hooked us up with private snowboard lessons for my son at a rate SUBSTANTIALLY less than what Vail ski school charges, and instruction more likely to get him boarding, than spending multiple days on the bunny slopes. By the third day, he was doing blues! We used the small in-room refrigerator and did breakfast in the room, or you can get a light Continental ($9) or hot breakfast ($13) in the cafe. A Vail accommodations associate tried to steer me away from this place, toward more pricey places. "That's the old Doubletree, and it's far from everything." I knew enough to know that the location was good, and booked thru Expedia at a good rate. Our room had been refurbished, as I assume all rooms have by now.
