“Just fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

We stayed for 10 nights at The Sebastian for a skiing holiday. The hotel is gorgeous and in a central location. The staff are all superb - helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I agree that the sodas and snacks in the room are a great touch and they are happy to replenish if you ask. We found the hotel very relaxing - it was luxurious but not pretentious or intimidating. As recommended in other reviews the Friday evening fizz and popcorn was a great idea and the place was buzzing. We ate in Leonora one evening and the food and staff were very good. The Frost bar is certainly the place to be - it can get busy on Fri/Sat nights but added the general buzz of the place. And it does excellent cocktails. We had breakfast included and could help ourselves to whatever we wanted - it certainly set us up for a day on the slopes.

We are so glad you were able to have and extended stay with us. Our associates enjoy ensuring our guests happiness while on property. Leonora is a new restaurant for us this winter season and we are happy you enjoyed it. The official name for “Fiz and Popcorn’ is Sparkle & Pop, we host it every Friday evening for all of our guests. At The Sebastian it is not just, with whom you travel, it is whom you meet along the way! It is a wonderful event and one of my personal favorites. Come back and see us soon. Thanks for taking the time to tell us how we did.

We stayed for 5days and 4nights a planned birthday trip for 2 friends. How would we know that we would have front row tickets the the Burton Ski and Snowboarding US Open!!! Did I mention it was free because Burton supplied monitors all throug Vail village. Way to go Burton!! They also sponsored other free and interactive activies. What a plus for 2 first timers!! Now the hotel, it was absolutely gorgeous. Our room (residence 223B) had a perfect view of the slopes and the competition with a view of the heated outdoor pool and jacuzzis below. The public areas where beautiful in addition to the lobby with the continous burning fire place, the spa, the restaurant, the bar and the library. It was a great find!!!

Just stayed 10 nights at Vail in CO, and were very pleased. Great location right in town, 2 minute walk to BaseCamp and ski facilities. BaseCamp is best ski concierge we've ever seen/used! Friendly staff, made all our dinner and activity reservations, changed some as we went along, all with a smile. Super ambiance. Highly recommend to all travellers.

One point of warning: we found dining in Vail a challenge, hard to find a nice simple meal which didn't risk overstuffing you and emptying your wallet simultaneously. Loved Nobu/Matsuisha which at least has portion control.

We stayed for 2 weeks at the beginning of February for a skiing trip. This was our first time in Vail and at the Sebastian, and it won't be our last. From when we checked in, the staff were the most charming and helpful of any hotel I've ever stayed in. Our room was spacious (we were upgraded at no extra charge) and the free drinks and snacks are a lovely touch. Some reviewers have complained of road noise at the front of the hotel - our room was at the front and the noise was negligible. We could hear the snow plough but we very quickly became accustomed to that and it didn't bother us at all.The bed was incredibly comfortable and there were plenty of pillows (always a bugbear of my fiance's!).The hot tub area is a great place to meet other residents and talk over the day's fun on the slopes. We met Lance, the delightful manager, at the drinks reception on the Friday evening (which we enjoyed far more than expected) and he recognised us whenever we bumped in to him subsequently, which made us feel valued. The spa is a wonderful place to relax and unwind (although the treatments are not inexpensive!) and the massages we received were uniformly excellent. Once we realised that the Mountain Games were going to make finding a table a little tricky over the weekend, we asked the concierge to book tables for us for the rest of our stay, which was done with no fuss and exactly to our requirements. The buffet breakfast is superb, especially the pastries which were as good as I've had outside France, and caters to many tastes. Possibly the best plus is the slopeside concierge - no walking to and from the hotel in boots carrying skis. It's all stored for you about 50m from the gondola, leaving you free to head straight for the bar for the abundant apres action Vail has to offer. We are getting married next year and intend to come back here for our honeymoon. I can't wait!

If you get a good price, don't hesitate, go for it. Great place. You will love it. Rooms are not very big, but very comfortable, staff is friendly, great location, and Vail is an awesome place to ski.

The staff here was really great. It started from the first bellman to greet me and stayed that way through room service, special requests, and ended with the last bellman to see me off.

The room was nice, but this is expected with a hotel in this price range. The view was essentially of the alley/rest of the hotel. One of the other reviews noted that the better views are likely reserved for the condos--this seems plausible . My room was average sized relative to my expectations--not cramped but not spacious either.

I had booked through hotwire (was not cheap, even through hotwire) and was expecting something slopeside--this is probably a three block walk. They have a separate affiliated location for rentals/gear storage slopeside, but it is not quite the same as being ski-in ski out.

I had drinks/dinner at the bar a couple of nights, a cool scene, good food, good drinks, good staff. I also had a massage at the spa, might have been the best massage I have ever had.

The hotel definitely is pricey. I think my breakfast buffet ran $40+, ~$50 including tip. To sum it up, great staff, nice hotel, but location/value only OK.

We are so grateful you chose The Sebastian - Vail for your stay. Vail Village was a purpose built European style walking village the lodging surrounds the town center. Our Base Camp gives us a prime ski-in/ski-out location right to the new Gondola #1 at the base of Vail Mountain.

Thank you for your kind comments on our staff, our associates pride themselves on making our guests feel, welcome, pampered & valued. Frost where you had your great drinks is one of Vail’s hottest bars. Our location within Vail Village is very compact all of our suites offer beautiful views of the slopes or Vail Valley. If view is a priority for you let us book a one bedroom suite for your next stay it has a full gourmet kitchen, fireplace with lots of room to roam! We hope you will come back and see us soon.

Very beautifull hotel, with large rooms and pretty pool and jacuzzis.. The staff (reception and concierge) were amazing!!! Super thoughtfull to all our concerns.. The location is great... Really close to the middle of the village (300m), but if you are not up to this small walk there is a bus that takes you there for free each 5-7min.. You don't leave your ski gear at the hotel. They have a store (base camp) at the village so you don't have to carry it on your walk...
I certainly recomend it!!
