“Bait and switch!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2008

We checked in for a week at this property and were highly disappointed. Our condo was in an old run down building (Douglas building). It reminded us of a motel 6 and felt a little unsafe to us. The linens were stained, mattresses old and uncomfortable, bathrooms tired and unclean. Need I say more...this place should be ashamed to call itself a Marriott! Also the ski locker was broken..the guy at the front desk was polite and in agreeement with us, but unable to do anything about it. Please be warned before you book this place..there are some newer units, but if you get stuck in the older building, you will regret it!

  • Liked — Location, shuttle service to ski hills
  • Disliked — old run down building, does not deserve to be called a Marriott

My wife and I stayed here for one night with our 14 month old son. The staff was friendly and the rooms were adequate. They could use a remodel but for $99/night, you can't go wrong. It's located one exit up the road from the heart of Vail and they have a shuttle that will take you there and pick you up at no charge.

It's not the nicest Marriot timeshare we have ever stayed at and I wouldn't even put in the top 40%. Since the price is lower than most Marriott timeshare resorts, I don't mind taking a step down in quality.

The view from our balcony was of the woods and it was very quiet and peaceful.

I called ahead to make sure there was an elevator. There was if you are fortunate enough to get one of the 8-10 parking spots with elevator access. We were not. The girl checking us in gave us a map showing where to find the hot tubs and informed us the pool, sauna, fitness center, etc were under construction and we would have to drive several miles to get access to the rec center they have an agreement with. To get to the hot tub, we had to go thru another building. There were no signs in the building giving directions on how to find the tub. We finally found it, but since we were not staying in that building, our key would not let us in the gate. Then we could also not get back into the back door of the Evergreen building. We are wandering around in bathing suits in 50 degree weather. The lady we talked to at the desk after all of this acted like this was our fault as our trade was for the wrong building to access a hot tub. She did not want to give us a key to the Evergreen building, but finally agreed to do so. This building probably will not remain a Marriott much longer, as other buildings within the complex have opted out of the management system. I would not recommend this to anyone to buy, trade, or rent. The units are just ok. The bed does not have Marriott bedding, the view of the mountain is about 5 feet out the back door straight up. In other words there is no view.
I own 11 timeshares and I am a Marriott Rewards platinum guest so I am not a novice here. This was my fifth trade to a Marriott this year.

Although I give high marks to the staff including the general manager for being very responsive to our wishes we were very disappointed and would not return. The hallways are in desperate need of a renovation. The room was very musty and smelled stale, the table was in terrible condition (scratched etc) and the bathrooms were very outdated. There was no air-conditioining- it was very hot even though a standing fan was provided, the small windows didn't open very far. There was a ceiling fan but it was only in the living room section-not the bedroom. There was only 1 double bed in the bedroom and the "mountain view" we were told we would get was a very close bottom of a hill so we couldn't see out at all- it was quiet..but very claustrophobic.

On the plus side, there were 2 separate rooms and 2 bathrooms- the living area with kitchen were decent sized and the rest of the furniture aside from the table was in fine condition. These are time-shares so guessing that some may be in better condition, but disappointing there is not a high general standard maintained.

Because they are time-shares you dont get Marriott rewards points and can't use them there, although the stay counts to help your status as a silver or gold member etc.

Four of us (two couples) stayed at the Marriot Streamside. It was a one bedroom 2 full bath unit with a pull out couch in the living room. There was also a wood burning fireplace in the living room, it was wonderful. Our room had a private deck looking out to the side of the mountian.

The unit was quite large for a time share. The room was very clean. There was no airconditioning, but we didn't need it. It was quite cool at night and we put on the heat.

The only odd thing about this time share is that there was no maid service. They came one day to change the towels and empty the garbage, and that was it.

Overall it was a very nice hotel.
