“The Beds are AWFUL”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2009

Very basic amenities with teenage or slightly older staff who have probably never worked in the hospitality business ever before. The housekeeping staff kept room clean, but rest of hotel definitely needs update. THE BEDS ARE THE WORST I have ever slept on in a hotel. It was akin to sleeping on the floor. We had to go to Wal-mart and buy a mattress topper so as to not be so sore on the second night of staying there. There is no closet space and virtually no place to put your clothes if you plan to stay more than a day or so. If you are over about 27 probably not a place that you would like to stay for any length of time as most nights we believed there was a fraternity party going on next door.

If you are looking for a good value in Vail (which can be hard to find!), this is an excellent option. Located less than 10 minutes from Lionshead, the shuttle runs every 30 minutes from 8AM to 8:30PM, dropping you off at either Lionshead or Vail Village Transportation Center. 3 restaurants on site offer nice options when you don't want to leave the hotel. West Side Cafe has good breakfast. Lobby is nice and comfortable with computers available for guest use. Room is perhaps slightly nicer than your average Holiday Inn. Staff was pleasant and we appreciated the good value, particularly when you spend so little time in a hotel room and most of your time skiing or enjoying the Village.

Every day around 3:30ish probably when everyone was coming back from the slopes, the place serves appetizers. Nothing fancy but its nice to just munch on stuff when you're getting ready and still have some time for dinner. The service was really great and the front desk staff was helpful. The business center was actually used because it was not in some far off corner but right at the lobby. The lobby also had this great fireplace and was a nice place to crash right when you got back from the slopes and oh yeah were munching on those appetizers.

We spent four nights around New Year's eve at the hotel.

We were on the fourth floor with a balcony. The room size was fine - king bed, small couch (pull-out), desk and chairs - clean and recently updated as was the bath.

There were duplexes on the same floor so there was quite a bit of noise from the floor above and unfortunately, people appeared to be wearing their ski boots!

Shuttle service was very convenient. Parking was included. Nice lobby. Service was attentive and when we needed a new iron they brought one up immediately. An expensive time of the year at a very expensive resort - so for the money (around $350/night) the Holiday Inn was a pretty good deal.

I gave this an above average rating because I really have absolutely no complaints about this hotel. The staff was friendly when we interacted, but we never even really spoke to them, because their were no complaints! The room was warm, clean, and the shower was great! The shuttle ran exactly on the schedule that it advertised - every half hour to Lionshead and Veil Transportation Center. There are also reasonable ski rentals right in the lobby. The reason I am giving this four stars though is because you can hear all loud hallway noise. Also, the hot tub was crowded after a day of skiing, and management could have heated the outdoor pool a little more.

  • Liked — The clean room and the shuttle, once you got used to the schedule.
  • Disliked — Hallway noise.

Loved the hotel and it's great value too. Located conveninetly off the I-70 . Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable .
Breakfast was great at an on-site cafe called Westside, Price was very reasonable. We tried the Nozawa , the Japanese restaurant and they served really fresh sushi !

Check in was fast and the staff was very efficient and helpful ! They always had a smile on their face. Their Duty Manager , Karly Moore was very friendly and helpful too.
They were so thoughtful when the Westside cafe closed on Christmas day and the front office offered their guest doughnuts ...very nice of them. The hotel had a shuttle which takes you to Lionshead and vail Village every 30 mins and runs from 8.00am till 8.30pm. The shuttle was very, very reliable and we enjoyed the convenience of not having to look for a place to park in Vail.

There is a McD's next door and Safeway is just 200 yards away. So it's very convenient. We only took the car when we wanted to visit Beaver Creek which was a 15 min car ride. ( ohhh... and parking is free at the Holiday Inn )

Overall very good location and great value. Will definitely stay there again with my family !

My stay at this Holiday Inn was incredible. From the cozy rooms overlooking the mountains to the fabulous restaurant Nozawa, everything was great. The staff was very accomadating and managed to give us special package deals on white water rafting, which saved us a good amount of money.
The location of this hotel is ideal. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides and a quaint shopping center with restaurants and bars is just minutes down the road. Not to mention the bike path that is also just down the road, providing another oppurtunity to take in the scenic, beautfiul surroundings.
While there I treated myself to a massage and it was one of the best ones I have ever received. (The ambiance was incredible; so relaxing and refreshing)
I have to say, I would honestly go back just for the sushi. One of the restaurants there, Nozawa, serves the BEST Asian cuisine. Even if your not a fan of sushi, I think this restaurant would certainly change your mind!
For us, one week was just not enough. We are hoping to go back, only this time in the winter so we can hit the amazing slopes. I gurantee you, your stay here will be fabulous.
