“Loved the Holiday Inn !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2008

Loved the hotel and it's great value too. Located conveninetly off the I-70 . Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable .
Breakfast was great at an on-site cafe called Westside, Price was very reasonable. We tried the Nozawa , the Japanese restaurant and they served really fresh sushi !

Check in was fast and the staff was very efficient and helpful ! They always had a smile on their face. Their Duty Manager , Karly Moore was very friendly and helpful too.
They were so thoughtful when the Westside cafe closed on Christmas day and the front office offered their guest doughnuts ...very nice of them. The hotel had a shuttle which takes you to Lionshead and vail Village every 30 mins and runs from 8.00am till 8.30pm. The shuttle was very, very reliable and we enjoyed the convenience of not having to look for a place to park in Vail.

There is a McD's next door and Safeway is just 200 yards away. So it's very convenient. We only took the car when we wanted to visit Beaver Creek which was a 15 min car ride. ( ohhh... and parking is free at the Holiday Inn )

Overall very good location and great value. Will definitely stay there again with my family !

My stay at this Holiday Inn was incredible. From the cozy rooms overlooking the mountains to the fabulous restaurant Nozawa, everything was great. The staff was very accomadating and managed to give us special package deals on white water rafting, which saved us a good amount of money.
The location of this hotel is ideal. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides and a quaint shopping center with restaurants and bars is just minutes down the road. Not to mention the bike path that is also just down the road, providing another oppurtunity to take in the scenic, beautfiul surroundings.
While there I treated myself to a massage and it was one of the best ones I have ever received. (The ambiance was incredible; so relaxing and refreshing)
I have to say, I would honestly go back just for the sushi. One of the restaurants there, Nozawa, serves the BEST Asian cuisine. Even if your not a fan of sushi, I think this restaurant would certainly change your mind!
For us, one week was just not enough. We are hoping to go back, only this time in the winter so we can hit the amazing slopes. I gurantee you, your stay here will be fabulous.

We stayed here for two days in August. The hotel was convenient and clean, the staff very personable and accommodating. Online we had requested a room away from the elevators and ice machine and got it. The beds were very comfortable with great pillows and a fluffy duvet. There was a small refrigerator, free internet and nice furniture and television.

The bathroom had a beautiful tub/shower with granite and was sparkling clean. After wiping out mountain biking, I had a good long soak without worrying about when the last time the tub was scrubbed - it looked brand new and shiny. The sink and vanity outside the bathroom also had granite. The outside vanity was very handy as you can continue getting ready while someone else is in the bathroom/shower.

The hotel lobby is very nice with a warm lodge feel. There is a large fireplace with comfortable leather couches. There is an internet room as well just across from the check-in counter, a sushi restaurant and breakfast available for purchase, although we didn't try it. We did try the sushi restaurant and were a bit disappointed, but I wouldn't let that stop me from staying here again. There are lots of other places to eat. Next door to the hotel is also an Italian restaurant, and on the other side is a Safeway supermarket which is very convenient.

The summer rate was very reasonable. I'm sure winter rates are higher, but I would definitely recommend this hotel. Vail is an expensive town and this was a great value.

Our stay in Vail although great in terms of the things to do for our child, was a horrible experience at the Holiday Inn in Vail Colorado. The management charged us way over what the pricing was for the week, refused to refund us the money and on top of all that we had a huge breach in security from someone consistantly trying to get in our room each night. I would only recommend the lobby but unfortunately you cannot pitch a tent or roller in the lobby. To this day I still await a return call for our refund and money and the manager and assistant manager return call. At this point we will be dealing with the corporate offices and hopefully they will find different and more responsible management to handle the hotel. In terms of location it is great that is why it is a shame the management is there and at this location.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2008

I looked at all the reviews before staying there, so I was skeptical about it, but most of my concerns were unfounded. Lots of people complaining about the hotel staff, and I have no idea why. They were all very friendly and pleasant, and all of my interactions with them went very smoothly. As far as the complaint that the place isn't as pictured- that's not true, it is exactly as pictured, because they ARE PICTURES, not drawings.... It's not a 5 star hotel, so the interior and furnishings are not five star, nice enough though, considering it is a Holiday Inn. Probably nicer then most Holiday Inns, since it is in Vail. I was concerned when I got to the second floor, where my room was, because the hallway smelled funky- a combo of stale cigarette smoke, and something perfumey to cover it up, but when I got to the room, there was no smell, so no big deal. The room was sort of small, but all we did there was sleep and shower, so I wasn't expecting or needing anything really fancy. Granite counter in the bathroom, and shower, a good firm bed, and linens that were maybe not brand new, but nice enough, and certainly clean. Overall the place may show a few signs of wear and tear, but that's how a lot of places in Vail and Avon are. Skiers are not very conscientious, and it usually shows in the worn/slightly stained carpet, among other places. But, at a little over $100 a night, this may be one of the better deals in Vail. Not a luxury hotel, but still a good deal for the money, and somewhere I would stay again.

  • Liked — Staff was friendly, location was good, cost was excellent. Free parking! Free water and coffee, and several restaurants in the hotel.
  • Disliked — The stale cigarette and perfume smell in the second floor hallway.

This hotel is not as pictured and definately has customer service problems. When we arrived and checked in we were told the easy access was from the back of the hotel. We parked next to the weed field around the pool. The back door did not close and lock automatically and in fact was left open most of the night. We asked the desk to call a cab to go to the village for dinner. Making the excuse that the cab co. did not answer the phone we were advised to find our own transportation. We left a wake-up call that was 20 minutes late. Not critical to our vacation, but certainly would have been for someone with a tee time, plane ect. Althought the web site list room service and there is a room service menu in the room, when we called for breakfast, we were told that since the restaurant is not really affiliated with the hotel, it would be an hour and a half for breakfast and we should come to the restaurant if we wanted to eat sooner. Needless to say we ate elsewhere. The hotel is fine if you just want a place to sleep and no other amenities. The safety issue with the back door is unacceptable.

  • Liked — The bed was very comfortable for the price of the hotel.
  • Disliked — Service from the staff and the safety issue.

PRO: Close to activities, nice scenery.

CON: HORRIBLE BED!!! slept about 2 hours. Could hear everyone in hallway, all night long. Have a sore back now, and super tired. Staff nonexistent.
