“High expectations, huge disappointment!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

Provided it was 11 of us we tried almost everything on the menu. Let's start with the positive. The restaurant is located within the Solaris complex and nicely appointed. Their sake collection is extraordinary and sophisticated. However, the food was not up to par. The sushi was below average and the portions for all other dishes was less than samplers... Some flavours were ok but no dish was a rock star. All of us are well traveled foodies and none was impressed. One of the fish dishes we ordered (a Black Cod) was brought almost raw (perhaps the kitchen though they were cooking tuna)...we told the server and she only came back to argue with one of the ladies on our group...it was clearly undercooked...she said the Chef said she had to eat it like that! Really?? So I asked her to let the Chef know he was right and we were wrong but she could take it away! The service was average and not what you would expect from a high end restaurant like this.

“Good flavors but please feed me.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

I ate at 2 sushi restaurants in vail during my stay and while both were good, the portion sizes are laughable. Expect to pay $200 a person just on food to fill your belly. I don't mind spending money on food but food averages out to about $8-$10 per bite! I don't think they care. The place was packed with foreigners enjoying the weak dollar right now and dropping a fortune on the sushi.

“Very disappointing!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

We were recommended this and read reviews on TA before going and had 2nd thoughts due to bad reviews however decided we should try it as we had never been to a nobu restaurant before. Our two boys 11 and 9 also were interested in Japanese.
Things started fine and food and service was ok... A little on the light side so we ordered more dishes (specials recommended by our waitress).
Wine was seriously over priced (2 times more than other restaurants) and bottled water was ridiculous.
Anyway point being, our bill was nearly $500 for 4 of us (2 children). And what we were annoyed with was the specials they offer are between $80-$160 and the portions are so small AND you have to cook yourself on a hot rock. Rating of 1 due to not disclosing the special prices and the average food that would be no different from your local sushi bar.
Such a shame as in reflection it was obvious the waitress was pushing us for the specials which ultimately annoyed all of us.
Much better places in Vail at a 1/4 of the price. Should have been more aware as we has read similar reviews before going.

“Foodie's delight”

Expensive but worth it. Tasting menus during the off season are the best bang for your buck. Beautiful interior, incredible views out 2 story window of Vail Mountain

“Pretentious, over priced and appauling service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

Having booked over seven days ago when we arrived at 8:45 for a 9:00 booking we were advised we had to wait until 9:30 !
Too many choices on the menu lead to confusion for guests and staff alike resulting in one main dish missing and one incorrect order (wagu rather than salmon) meaning two of eight guests were without a main dish.
The poor waitress was rushed off her feet with no assistance from management. On presentation of the bill they agreed to waive 20% service charge to acknowledge the poor level of service.
The food was acceptable but the disappointing ambience (poor design, fixtures, fittings and acoustics) were the finishing touches to our most disappointing meal in over a decade of dining in the Vail Valley.
