“Affordable, convenient and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

My second time at the Lionshead Inn in Vail. It was the end of the season, so Vail was not crowded and easy going. The hotel is one of the most affordable in Lionshead, large double bed room, smallish bathroom but good enough, small balcony. We paid extra to be on the mountain side, which gives a great view and a lot of sun. You can also get a single queen bed, and then the room has a small kitchen area.
I do not give five circles and an excellent rating because they have stopped their breakfast service which was included in the price. It was simple but convenient and enough food to get started. Now they only offer coffee, fruits and health bars.

Room Tip: The hotel is 300 yards form the gondola, you can make the commute easier by renting from SkiTech whi...

Lionshead Inn isn't the fanciest place but it serves its purpose. Vail certainly lives up to its slogan of being "like no place on Earth." Great staff especially Benjamin the manager. Very helpful and quite a nice guy - knew all the best places to eat, how to get to the slopes and took care of any issues we had during our stay.

We stayed at the Lionshead Inn based on price and location. The place is old, and slated as part of Vail's expansion/remodel. The room was clean, but not spotless. The bed was comfortable. If the place is still around take advantage of the value as it is located steps away from the Lionshead village portion, and the Intown Bus.

I worried when making my reservation that this place was too cheap. The next place I found on hotels.com was about twice to three times the price. Now for the sell job: The rooms were cozy, (not huge) but very comfortable. towels changed any time I used one. New soap daily. Chocolate chip cookies at 5 PM. (I had to try one for this review: excellent). Front desk staff great. They got up at 2 AM when we arrived and even came to our room to help us with the keys.
I was late checking out on the last day and there was no charge. They have an exercise room with universal gym, treadmill etc. Free coffee, morning snacks. But the best part is that for a 3 day stay I saved about $1000. Paid for multiple nice meals, even bought a pair of skis with some of the savings (end of season discounted). I would come back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: stay in main building if possible. The annex is nice but separate from the lobby, game room, exerci...

This was our 2nd stay; the first was 10 years ago. This time we stayed in the Annex building. The rooms are older looking, but still comfortable to crash in after a day on the mountain. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly (from phone calls pre-trip to helping us re-do a reservations at Sweet Basil to answering questions). We got a room that didn't have too much highway noise and had a view of the mountains across the street.

The hot tub is small, secluded, comfortable, with a slight view. You get chocolate chip cookies at 4ish (although we only caught them one day). Parking was extremely reasonable at $15/day.

A few minor complaints (especially for the location and price; notice this didn't affect a 5 star rating): they struggled to keep on top of the ice in the parking lot, which can be treacherous in board boots. House keeping didn't replace one of our robes all week, and on the final day, didn't replace kleenex (which was only a big deal because we both came down with colds).

The hotel is a block away from the bus stop and a 3-5 minute walk from the Eagle Bahn gondola. It is a 3 minute walk to some of the top TripAdvisor rated dining areas, including breakfast at The Little Diner.

I was really disappointed to hear that there is only a season or so left before Lionshead Inn is torn down and turned into condos. :/ I'm hoping we'll get to stay again next season.

Room Tip: The Annex building has king size beds, but no microwaves. We've stayed in both buildings. When w...

First off, I love this place. Ben is awesome and this place is all what I need. Its Vail and very expensive! This place helps us "not so privilege" people a place to stay in Vail. I have been here 4+ times this year and never had 1 problem. Ben the front desk manager is great and a little secret, call them to book your room and its cheaper. This is coming from a local, Sun-Thurs of course. I take it for what it is, a bed, hot shower, bathroom and VERY close to the lift. All what I need. Hot tub is perfect and does the job. Will always be back!
