“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2011

The Peaks is a great hotel. Large rooms and bathrooms, ski in and out, great place for aprés-ski with music and nice people around. Amazing SPA with fantastic massages and body treatments. Free Wi-Fi, beautiful view to the mountains.

Loved the ski in/ski out concierge service. Nice to have someone else take care of equipment while we sip on hot chocolate or cider. The spa was amazing and the couples massage was the best ever. We ate at the Palmyra and had mixed experiences with service, but food was good as were the views. The valet service was great; we never had to touch our luggage. We booked an economical package, so got an older, but comfortable and quiet room. The remodeled rooms are nicer. The concierge, the front desk people, and spa attendants were exceptionally friendly and spent their leisure time in casual coversation with us. Felt like we were among friends.

While it sounds like the Peaks has gotten better, I would have chosen differently if I had a chance to see our room before I arrived. There are much nicer places to stay in Mountain Village. At this price point, I was surprised by how small and out-of-date our room was. The shower desperately needed caulking/updating, there was absolutely no temp control for the room (there's a dial, but it doesn't do anything.), there was no mini-fridge or even access to ice on the floor. Fortunately, they did have a humidifier in the room, which didn't humidify (the water level never changed.), but it blocked out the noise from my neighbors. The walls are very thin here. Perhaps as the new ownership/management continues to make changes this place will get better, but it still has a long way to go. The one upside is that the hotel is pet friendly, and the charge for our pet was very reasonable.

We enjoyed our stay and the ski in/out facility and the spa were both excellent. The bootroom staff were extremely helpful.
However the telephone did not work to make outside calls; our safe did not work; bath tap put on the wrong way so hot=cold and vice versa; large screws hanging down under the tv; insufficient staff at breakfast and finding a spoon was almost impossible; insufficient and untrained staff in bar; internet did not work for checking in to airline. A real pity.

Stayed there a couple of nights in a skiing trip do Telluride. The hotel is very large, quite comfortable, with nice services for ski-in/ski-out. You can leave all your skiing stuff at the base of the hotel and pick-it up in the morning, when you go to ski-out. Very comfortable. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk to the Mountain Village Center. It is very well located. The room is ok. We had to fit in a third bed and the room got a little cramped. It is actually only fit for two persons. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant, but did not like it very much. My rate did not include breakfast, and I ended up eating breakfast elsewhere. The hotel spa is very good, apparently the largest one in Colorado. There is a nice outdoor hot tube with a beautiful view of Telluride.

Booked this hotel after reading great reviews and as my trip date came closer started to read some not so great reviews due to a change of ownership. Was a bit apprehensive upon arrival but was really pleased at the outcome. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous and a great place to hang out after a long day at the slopes. The staff was very accomodating and very friendly. We used every bit of this hotel from the pool, hot tub, lobby, restaurant and bar, ski valet, laundry service and spa and everything was wonderful. I liked staying slopeside where we walked out side and our skis were waiting for us as opposed to staying in town and having to deal with all that. At night we took the gondola into town. Everything about this place was great, the only negatives I recall were the room was very hot and dry but they sent up a humidifier for me and they must have had a plumbing issue with the bathroom outside the front desk because it had a funky smell. Loved this place! If you come to ski you have to talk a day off and do a dog sled, unbelievable views and alot of fun. We booked with Chantal from winter moon tours.

We’re so glad that you had an enjoyable stay at The Peaks Resort and Spa and thank you for sharing your experience. The team here at The Peaks is working dilligently to return the hotel to it's former glory. Since your last visit, the Great Room has been transformed with new furniture and the addition of The Great Deck with relaxing lounge furniture, cocktail service and 5 fire pits. Our rooms renovation is completed and humidifiers are available in all guest rooms. We would love to welcome you back to experience the improvements and thank you for your feedback.
