We return to the Peaks year after year because we love Telluride and we love being in Mountain Village. The destination is as superb as ever...world class skiing, great town with dining and the gondala means never being in a car for your entire vacation. However, the hotel is not what it used to be.
We booked online and it's a lot more expensive now that Wyndham is out of the picture. Ok, we thought the service and food and beverage would be better. NO. Breakfast buffet was seriously overpriced and there was only 2 servers in the entire restaurant. No one even greeted us when we sat down. To get a drink in the "Great Room" the apres-ski place, you physically have to get up and go to the bar yourself. Service is scarce.
The rooms were fine, beds comfortable but the heat is on constantly and you roast so I'd recommend opening the window a bit at night.
The spa is very nice, getting a bit worn. My kids love the pool and the water slide. It's a great place for kids but I heard next year the place is going condo and all the pool slide, kid friendly atmosphere is going away.
Bright spot is the ski valet. They park your skiis at night and warm your boots. Steve from Hungary has been there for years and knows every guest by name. That's what I expect from a place like this. I only wish it was reflected around the rest of the resort.
