“Great Holiday Wedding Weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

We stayed at The Peaks for a wedding over the 4th of July. Overall, we had a great time. The rooms were spacious and the beds were super comfy! I stay in hotels a lot (as I'm in the travel industry) and these beds were the best! I did upgrade my room to a room with a balcony, but I would have preferred to be on the west side, which had amazing views.

We dined in the restaurant and loved the cafe - a great place to pick up a coffee and a quick bite to eat (and reasonably priced). The patio was stunning. We enjoyed having cocktails and watching the sun set every night.

The location of the hotel is good, but it seemed a lot of the shops were closed in the village (kind of surprising since it's the busiest weekend in the summer). Using the gondola was tough at times (two hour wait on Saturday morning due to the crowds trying to get to the parade).

The wedding was great - food was okay. Definitely would go back, although it's a far drive from Denver. Telluride is just spectacular - one of my absolute favorite places in Colorado.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a room on the west side - the views are stunning!

We booked this room at the visitor center of the town and they recommended this hotel over many of the others. We were told that parking was included and no resort fee. At check in we learned there is a $24 valet parking and that is the only option and a $25 resort fee. The hotel is generally nice but important details are glanced over. I wish we had known that this hotel is extremely dog friendly and we didn't realize till we checked in and there are dog treats sitting on the counter. Another thing to watch out for is that there is no A/C fine for the winter don't come in the summer. For a 4 star hotel it didn't meet my expectations seeing as that is the same rating the fairmont had. I will not be returning and suggest you don't come there are much better places for the same price.

Extraordinary view from the room's huge balcony. We could see Utah's mountain range. Lumpy mattress, but no other major problems overall. Big bath and shower space. Hear from friends it is hot in summer on upper floors with no AC. Dine elsewhere other than cocktails and happy hour burgers.

Room Tip: West facing with balcony.

We loved the beauty of this hotel...the views were fabulous and the grounds were gorgeous. Everything was clean and well kept. We especially enjoyed the pool and hot tubs. You could swim from the indoor pool to the outdoor pool. The pool also had a really fun slide. We took a short walk to the Mountain village gondolas and rode right into town. We plan on staying here again.

Stayed here with the family for 4th of July. Loved the view! Beds were very comfy. The slide at the pool was outstanding. My son must have ridden it 30 times. Could have done without the valet parking for $25 per day. Also the front desk wasn't very knowledgeable about where to go to do things. We got a lot of "I'm not from here." The no ac was no big deal.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony.

The Peaks is a dog friendly hotel located very close to the gondola in Mountain Village. Everyone at the hotel seems to like there job, but they are not as attentive as my family and I would prefer. The front desk would not answer the phone on several occasions. The whole hotel was extremely dog friendly. There were fun activities to do like go bungee jumping on a small trampoline, run in a hamster ball, or even do a obstacle course suspended in the air (you are held in by a harness when doing this activity.) You could also ride into town on a gondola. The hotel would be wonderful in winter but in summer it was not as much of a comfort. There was no air conditioning and you could not open your windows at night without hearing screaming children. The hotel had a nice pool and hot tub. They even had a water slide that would go so quickly it was like you were at a water park. I went down the water slide a few time and realized that I had lots of cuts on my back from going down the water slide. I even was wearing a board shirt while doing this. The facility's are very nice but the hotel does not turn everything on. If you wanted to go down the water slide you would have to ask the spa to turn the water slide on. If you wanted to go into the sauna at the spa you would also have to ask for that to be turned on. Setting this aside the Spa and pool was amazing with 3 hot tubs and both indoor and outdoor pools that were connected. The hotel also had a great game room but like the rest of the hotel there were some problems. Some of the games were broken (in Big Buck Hunting Adventure one of the guns would not shoot at the screen, in ping pong the paddles were so used that it was difficult to play, the pool table was extremely warn down and the pool cue was so bent you could barely hit the ball.) This was a great hotel, just not in summer. The rest of Telluride was fantastic though and the walks that we took were truly amazing.

Room Tip: The West side of the hotel is 20 dollars a night more expansive and it is like sleeping in a sauna...

When we arrived they upgraded us to a suite since we had wanted a double bed and they only had a king. Nice surprise! The suite had two bathrooms one large and the other huge. The tubes were very large. It was very clean and and nicely decorated. The spa was very nice, we didn't have time to use the mineral bath. There was a slide at the pool. The pool was packed. The pool, jacuzzi and spa close at 8:30 too early. There were dogs all over the hotel we got a kick out of it until two mornings at 4:00 they started howling out our window, which we had to leave open because they didn't have air conditioning! The staff at the front desk, operator and two young men in red shirts that tend to your car were extremely friendly however, there were two older men with other colored red shirts were rude and wouldn't help when we told them we waited over thirty five minutes for a bellboy. The desk had no plug ins. There were so few plug ins. The Hampton we stayed in after had a four plug and USB port in three places for phones etc. ice machines and a great breakfast for less than a quarter of the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room far from where they have dogsitting! Being upgraded to a suite made it more worth th...
