The Telluride Historical Museum is a must see in Telluride. With new exhibits each year, the museum was recently recognized as a Smithsonian Affiliated Museum. There is an interactive mining exhibit outside perfect for the under teen (and older!) crowd. Inside is a great story on the history of mining in the area, the development of electric capacity in the region by Nunn, Tesla and others, historical data on the region and a wonderful ancient woven blanket, probably the oldest man-made artifact in the region. Don't miss a walking tour of the town with Ashley Boling or one of the various fireside chats they hold throughout the year, with a character actor portraying a local historically significant figure. We have tried each one. Truly a gem in this beautiful town. Good for kids and adults. There is something for everyone.
