3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2009

We've stayed in Resort Quest properties in ski country before, but the Double Diamond condos in Telluride didn't measure up for the money. The location was good walking distance to Lift #7, but the condo itself wasn't laid out very well -- narrow entrance up stairs to first level with 2 small bedrooms and baths and then up another level to small living room and kitchen (a third bathroom is a plus on this floor). It felt cramped even though it had the bedding and bathrooms for 2 adults and 3 kids. The hot tub on the property is a joke, and there are no amenities and no ambiance. In this area, the better units were at the adjacent Ettta Place condos. But I would stay closer to the gondola next time, which is closer to the action in town and much easier skiing in and out. The free Galloping Goose bus system is great, and the Double Diamond complex is right on the bus line, but stay near the gondola if you can. Still, Telluride is an unrivaled ski area and a charming mountain town in a magical mountain setting in the San Juans.

Stayed with family in Unit 21 from March 8 - March 12, 2006. Unit was 3-levels and fairly new. 2- bedroom unit with fold-out couch had 3 bathrooms with heated stone tile floors. All units have garages. Since we had no car we were able to use the heated garage to store skis. Garage of the unit was less than 100 feet from the snow - walk out the door, put on your skis, and at the ski lift/ticket office in less than 2 minutes.

Walked to downtown Telluride for dinner - - free shuttle also available. Lots of great resataurants fairly priced for a resort area. Great ski mountain!

The Double Diamond was a nice place to stay. The interior was comfortable but dated. All the modern necessities (TV, VCR, DVD player, Washer/Dryer, Fireplace) make it a nice retreat. The location would be great for skiing (right next to the ski lift), but for off season visits, be prepared to walk or bike or drive to the heart of the town where most of the restaurants and shops are. The Double Diamond is on the end of the 10 blocks of the town. While we were there, we could hear pipes banging through the walls (had no idea what it was, we told the front desk but the noises persisted throughout our stay). If you don't like stairs, this is not the place for you (three stories). I must say the kitchen is a nice size, but the bathrooms are very small. You can barely shave and brush your teeth in the master bathroom due to the odd configuration of the sink area. There are two eateries near by, but the bulk of the restaurants are further away as are the bookstores, shops, and cafes. Resort Quests check in area is a walk away from the actual units, so be prepared for that by asking your taxi driver to wait for you to check in then take you to the Double Diamond.
